2011 Volvo S40 is equipped with the HU-415 AM/FM cassette stereo, DolbyTM, antitheft circuitry 100-watt amplifier, six speakers and power antenna as standard equipment. The HU-615 premium sound system with single in-dash CD and premium speakers is available as an option. A separate six-CD changer is available as an accessory. Factory prewiring for this item can be ordered as an option. HU-615 shown in photo. Both the front and rear seats feature anti-submarining guards. The contoured shape of the seat frame with the high front edge helps to prevent occupants sliding under and out of their belts in a collision. Daytime running lights are standard equipment. These help to contribute to road safety by making the car more visible to other motorists. The clear lens, fixed-focus, clear-glass, dual headlamps, each lamp with its own reflector, provide powerful lighting and accentuate the distinctive look of the front of the car. On high beam all four lamps are lit. 2011 Volvo S40 is equipped with Volvo’s central power door lock system. This is supplemented with the familiar two-step unlock where you open the driver door with one touch of the button and with a quick two touches of the button, the other doors open. A central powerlock switch on the center console allows the car to be locked/unlocked from the inside if all the doors are closed. If the car is locked with the switch, and any door is opened from the inside, only that door will be unlocked. This applies whether the ignition is on or off. The system is designed to ignore a remote control lock request if the key is in the ignition. This is to prevent the possibility of inadvertently locking the keys in the car. If any door is open when locking the car with the remote control, the door lock knobs will remain down in the locked position. Every item has been approved and rigorously tested by Volvo engineers for safety and durability.
