New Cars of 2012

Posted on: May 10, 2012 | In Car Reviews

red sports car New Cars of 2012The second quarter of 2012 is underway and auto enthusiasts have plenty of new models to review and compare. Some automakers are testing the market with 2013 models of their concept cars. Some are over-the-top with their innovative new designs while others are the same rock-steady models with updates and sleeker lines.

A number of flashy cars priced under $50,000 are being rolled out this year, amid great fanfare among the automotive community. Each one is expected to go on sale in the next 18 months. With each new introduction the anticipation level ratchets up a notch or two.

No doubt those with money to burn and a driving desire to own one will waste no time signing on the dotted line and driving one home off the showroom floor.

If you’re one of them, research and compare car insurance rates first to find how much your premiums will be. Entering your ZIP code online can give you a clear picture of how much it will cost to insure one of these vehicles.

Excitement on Wheels

In January the public got its first look at the Ford Focus ST, and in February the Mitsubishi Evo XI was unveiled. In March the Toyota Prius C was revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Every few weeks a new car is introduced.

April heralds the arrival of the Chevy Camaro ZL1, a muscle car with a supercharged V-8 engine with 580 horsepower. The sticker price is $54,995 but the more affordable Camaro SS will sell for $31,930. The ZL1 selling points are getting the attention of the car crowd. Also in April the two-door Mini Paceman goes on display. Mini has its work cut out marketing this model, which is basically a two-door version of the Countryman. The Mini Paceman is similar to the Mini Cooper, only larger and with four-wheel drive.

More Innovation to Come

The following cars will be released in coming months:

Dodge Dart

2013 dodge dart 300x225 New Cars of 2012

In July the public will get it first look at the Dodge Dart, totally redesigned from earlier models. This compact sedan is expected to give serious competition to Chevy’s Sonic and Cruze models, the Ford Fiesta and Focus and the Hyundai Accent. The sticker price begins in the low $16,000 range and it has some outstanding features:

  • The Dart’s heavy Italian influence is seen in its Alfa Romeo Giuletta platform with its solid steel body.
  • It’s equipped with multi link independent rear suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and MacPherson front struts.
  • Some models will come with manual transmission. Others will be equipped with double clutch “manumatic.”

Cadillac ATS

2012 Cadillac ATS 300x191 New Cars of 2012

The Cadillac ATS is also expected to make its debut in July. Some experts say Cadillac is trying to mimic BMW, but Cadillac hopes to overtake BMW with its own version of a concept car. The new 3,400-pound Caddy is a lighter, more powerful car than previous models.

  • Its two-liter four-cylinder engine has 270 hp and 260 pounds per foot of torque. That’s more power under the hood than the BMW 328i.
  • Its V-6 engine has 320 hp, exceeding the BMW’s 300 hp engine.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

2012 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 300x175 New Cars of 2012

In October the Ford Shelby GT500 is scheduled to arrive. The Shelby is expected to top even the popular Camaro ZL1 with its powerful V-8 engine. Plus, the Shelby Mustang surpasses the Camaro in torque but weighs 200 pounds less. With all the options the sticker price could be in excess of $70,000.

  • With its high-performance engine the Ford Shelby can hit 200 mph.
  • It has an optional performance package including a Torsen limited slip, electronic adjustable dampers and a track package combining rear differential, transmission and engine oil coolers.

Planned for the Showroom Floor

This fall expect the Ford Fiesta ST, and late this year the Corvette C7 will arrive. Topping it all off will be the BMW i3 Electric City Car, scheduled to arrive in early 2013.

Ford Fiesta ST

2012 ford fiesta 300x197 New Cars of 2012

The good thing about the Ford Fiesta ST is that changes were made to the body to improve the cooling system. The drawback is that it might only come as a three-door hatchback. Ford tried unsuccessfully to squeeze the Focus ST two-liter engine into the Fiesta but modifications need to be made before it hits the showroom floor. The price is expected to be in the low $20,000 range.

  • Compared to the upscale feel of the new Ford Focus, the Fiesta will have a sportier feel to it.
  • The Fiesta will have better suspension than before and maybe Recaro seats.
  • It will come equipped with 17-inch wheels, dual exhaust and performance tires.
  • Under the hood it will have a direct-injection, 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

Chevy Corvette C7

2012 Corvette C7 300x180 New Cars of 2012

Over the past 13 years the Corvette hasn’t changed much and its looks have become dated, but expect a new look for the C7. This $50,000 car is already being compared to the more expensive Ferrari.

  • The C7 will have split rear windows and an updated interior.
  • Its performance will remain unchanged but it will have between 400 and 450 hp.
  • To improve fuel economy GM will lower the car’s displacement and make it lighter.

BMW i3 Electric City Car

BMW i3 Electric City Car 300x213 New Cars of 2012

BMW says its $35,000 i3 will get 100 mph and have a 99-mile range before it needs recharging. The automaker is planning a magnetic field charging system similar to the system found in cell phone charging pads and wireless laptops.

  • The i3 will have a rear-mounted electric motor and batteries mounted on the floor.
  • The trunk will be in the front, like the early Volkswagen Beetles.
  • The car’s maximum speed will be 100 mph and its electric engine will provide enough kick to equal 150 hp.

The car crowd is getting its first look at these up-and-coming new concept cars of the future.

In the auto industry “new” means more expensive and higher insurance premiums. Be sure to compare the cheapest car insurance rates online by entering your ZIP code and driving information to get a true feel how much one of these cars will really cost.

Top 10 Used Cars

Posted on: March 22, 2012 | In Car Reviews

Buying a used car requires a good deal of research and budgetary considerations: up-front costs are only the beginning. The best used cars are affordable to buy, easy to maintain, and cheap to own. That having been said, what are the top ten used cars for budget-conscious consumers?

Once your purchase is made, be sure to select the best auto insurance for your needs by entering your ZIP code into the FREE tool above!

10. Chevrolet Aveo

Cheverolet Aveo 300x225 Top 10 Used CarsGeneral Motors has a bad (but consistent) habit of canceling their most successful brands and replacing them with something similar — albeit something with a different name. This is how the Chevrolet Aveo became known as the Sonic. Both cars fall into the subcompact category, and both cars are super-affordable to purchase, even as new models. But, as of the 2013 model year, the Chevrolet Aveo is a discontinued brand. This makes it more affordable to buy, as people naturally attach a lower price tag to a discontinued brand. Furthermore, the Chevrolet brand is “domestic” for North American buyers, resulting in lower prices for replacement parts, maintenance, and car insurance premiums.

9. Pontiac G6

Pontiac G6 300x199 Top 10 Used CarsWhile General Motors typically cancels its car brands, it rarely discontinues an entire company. However, as part of its 2009 bailout and restructuring, the company eliminated its popular and long-running Pontiac line of cars. When it did so, it stopped producing the popular Pontiac G6 compact sedan. The car gets between 30 and 40 miles per gallon, is cheap to maintain, and has come down in price since the brand disappeared and future models were cancelled. Its status as a sports car means that it still looks current, but it won’t cost more to insure or operate.

8. Honda Fit

Honda Fit 300x136 Top 10 Used CarsThe company’s subcompact sedan and hatchback model is affordable even as a new car, but the company’s used models are going for nearly the same amount as the used (and discontinued) Chevrolet Aveo. Honda is notorious for cars that get excellent gas mileage, and road tests have seen the Honda Fit score near 40 miles per gallon even on bad days. That makes it overall affordable and easy to own in a word of near-$4 gasoline.

7. Mazda Protege

Mazda Protege 300x199 Top 10 Used CarsThe newest Mazda Protege is now nine years old, which might turn off some used car buyers. But the Protege was famous for its excellent gas mileage as well as its durability, and it still represents one of the best compact car values on the market — at least for used models. The Protege was given very forward styling, making it fit in well among current models even a decade after its discontinuation.

6. Honda Civic Hybrid

Honda Civic Hybrid 300x187 Top 10 Used CarsThe Honda Civic has always been one of the most affordable compact sedans, and the company’s hybrid model has long been far more affordable than the competing Toyota Prius. The car’s engine is notoriously low-maintenance, and its gas mileage is as stellar as one would expect from a hybrid model. Insurance costs are a bit higher on the hybrid version of the Civic, but they are more than balanced out by the car’s fuel savings.

5. Toyota Prius

Toyota Prius 300x164 Top 10 Used CarsThe best way to get a Toyota Prius is to buy used, as the used version of this popular (and industry leading) hybrid vehicle is far more affordable than a new model at a Toyota dealer. The cost of ownership is a bit higher with Toyota vehicles, but it’s a small price to pay for near-guaranteed quality.

4. Subaru Impreza

Subaru Impreza 300x200 Top 10 Used CarsIt’s one of the often-forgotten Asian car manufacturers, but Subaru produces a number of reliable vehicles that sell for less than competing models in their market niche. The Impreza is no exception, and customers will find that the cost of Subaru ownership is more affordable both at the time of purchase and over the course of vehicle ownership. With rising gas prices and increasing cost of living expenses, owning an affordable car is a good choice.

3. Pontiac Vibe

Pontiac Vibe 300x225 Top 10 Used CarsConsumers in the market for a hatchback model need look no further than the domestic Pontiac Vibe. It comes with all the price advantages paired with the Pontiac G6 — mainly, that the brand was discontinued and is no longer in favor — but it has extra room and a more storage space for families and those who do a lot of traveling. The Pontiac Vibe is a great choice for buyers who need a family-oriented vehicle while not wanting to drive a mini-van.

2. Ford Escape

Ford Escape 300x219 Top 10 Used CarsFord has committed itself to higher-quality vehicles in the past decade, and its Ford Escape model is among the most popular compact SUVs on the market. There’s a good reason for that: it’s affordable to buy, reliable to drive, and cheap to own. That all holds true for used models of the vehicle, which are a steal for most used car shoppers. At the present time, cars that are not only inexpensive to purchase, but also inexpensive to maintain (with rising gas prices), the Escape is a great option.

1. Mazda3

Mazda3 300x195 Top 10 Used CarsFor a sporty, compact sedan at an affordable price, the Mazda3 is the clear winner. Mazda has notoriously reliable cars that often see the 200,000 mile mark and, because they are among the most common Asian manufacturers insured in the United States, buyers won’t be charged an arm and a leg for liability coverage.

What’s Next?

Once you’ve purchased your top-ten used car, it’s time to reexamine your car insurance rate, as well as your insurance provider. This provides a clean break from high prices, bad service, or other problems. After a used car has been purchased, it’s time to comparison shop online with quotes from multiple insurance providers and ensure that a good deal on a used vehicle is complimented by a good deal on the insurance which will keep it street-legal. Take the Time and Review Car Wax

Posted on: March 12, 2012 | In Car Reviews

car wax water drops Take the Time and Review Car WaxCar enthusiasts everywhere enjoy seeing their ride sparkle and shine bright in the sun and under the city lights. While a good car wash is a great start, many forget to add the occasional coat of wax that gives your paint job a smooth and glossy finish that it yearns for. There are many different waxes on the market which can help you enjoy the look and feel of your car or truck to the maximum.

Be sure you have proper auto insurance for your shiny ride by entering your ZIP code into the FREE comparison tool above!

Wax is Necessary

Wax is vital to protecting your auto’s clear coat finish residing on top of the high quality auto paint. Once the clear coat starts to chip off, your vehicle will lose the luster and brilliance that you enjoy so much. The sun’s harsh ultra violet rays are powerful and if your car isn’t garaged, it is even more important to care for your paint job with special waxes and cleaners. Some of the best products on the market are waxes by the following manufacturers:

  • Maguiar’s
  • Turtle wax
  • Mother’s
  • Zymol
  • Klasse

The Wash Process

Waxing a car first involves cleaning a car very very thoroughly. Since paint is porous, dirt will linger even after an initial cleaning. This is a little known fact that many are not yet aware. Because of this, a special cleaner/wax product is suggested initially after a quick review car wax Take the Time and Review Car Waxrinse. All the foaming bubbles and cleaning products do not adequately penetrate the paint like a good hand polish, but are necessary to remove the top layer of stubborn dirt and grime. Despite rumors, dish washing liquid is not an ideal substitute for car cleaner. Be sure to get a product designed for car washing made by a manufacturer listed above. I’ve used Maguiar’s products for years and swear by their products. Mother’s products work well too and are readily available at most auto stores.

The Deep Clean / Wax Layer

Upon starting your waxing on your vehicle you will notice that your damp cloth filled with wax product is still pulling dirt off the car. This is why two coats of wax is optimum for a high gloss finish that lasts long and repels water. I’ve used Maguiar’s cleaner / wax for years and keep going back to it. However, using a wax will yield similar results and pull an additional layer of dirt and grime from your auto’s exterior.

Maguiar’s Ultimate Wax

Maguiar’s Ultimate line offers a true quality product. It sells for $19.99 and users will see the difference and be loyal to the brand for years. Some of Maguiar’s Ultimate car wax properties include:

  • Long-lasting protection and includes applicator pad and microfiber towel
  • Easy application
  • Sleek and smooth finish
  • Mirror-like reflections
  • Repels water

Turtle Wax

Turtle Wax offers a high quality product as well with their line of Platinum Ultra gloss liquid wax. It sells for $11.99 and this brand has a long lasting reputation for their magnificent car waxes. Some of their properties include:

  • Made with special resins which fills-in small scratches and swirls
  • Lasts long for up to a year

Klasse Wax

Klasse offers a remarkable product with their all-in-one product line which sells for $14.99. It is a cleaner/wax and provides excellent value as well. Properties of Klasse waxes include:

  • Repels water
  • Removes embedded dirt and residual wax buildup from paint
  • Removes oxidation and minor swirls
  • Provides a smooth protecting finish that lasts up to six months

Mother’s Wax

Mother’s offers a durable wax selling for $10.99 named Reflections because of the resulting high gloss reflections that appear in the paint job after use. It has high user reviews and a long reputation for producing quality results. Some of the products claims include:

  • Luster looks similar to wet shine
  • Easy to apply
  • Smooth and lasting finish

Zymol Cleaner/Wax

Zymol cleaner/wax is a great first coat of wax that sells for $14.95. It is sold globally and can be found in most major auto centers. It is environmentally friendly because it doesn’t contain harsh chemicals. Some product features include:

  • Contains high grades of ingredients which are derived from organic ingredients
  • Internationally acclaimed
  • Gentle, safe, abrasive-free and solvent-free
  • One-step formula
  • Glassy smooth feel of painted surfaces
  • Easy to use

The Polish Coat

As previously stated, additional coats of wax will help to protect the exterior further from the elements of Earth by hardening the wax coat and protecting from the sun’s harmful ultra violet rays. These products will benefit greatly from soft clean cloths and even a high speed powered applicator. Some of the recommended products include:

  • Mother’s California Gold Brazilian Carnuba Wax ($13.99)
  • Maguiar’s X2020Supreme Shine Microfiber Cloths ($7.99)
  • Zymol Carbon Wax ($49.99)
  • Turtle wax ICE polish / paste ($19.99)
  • Klasse High Gloss Sealant / Glaze ($19.99)

car insurance checklist 201x300 Take the Time and Review Car WaxConclusion

While auto care waxes come in a variety of different features, there is sure to be a product that will help bring your paint to life with just one application for under $20.00. However, for the deeply invested car owner, higher priced wax products will generally yield a higher quality result. It is usually recommended to stay with one brand of wax through the entire wash, wax and polish procedure.

What is the best place to find used cars for sale?

Posted on: March 9, 2012 | In Car Reviews

Looking Down a Long Road with Mountains What is the best place to find used cars for sale? Before you can get great insurance, you need a great car. Some people, when they decide that they need to buy a used car, will just walk straight to the nearest used car lot. Now, okay, sometimes this is a great way to find the car of your dreams.

Make sure you get the right auto insurance coverage by entering your ZIP code into the FREE comparison tool above!

If you have something specific in mind, if you know that you can get a good deal there, but it’s not the only place to shop. Here are some of the other top stops for those who want to car shop:

Online Classifieds

You can often find some really great deals in online classifieds. There are a number of upsides to finding used cars through this format:

  • Low cost of entry sometimes means that the seller is looking to offer their car up for a low price.
  • Being online means that you can search for rare collector cars halfway across the country if you’re willing to pay for transport.
  • There’s a much wider than usual range of options on the web. You can find fixer uppers if you want a project car, like-new cars if you want to drive something safe and reliable, and everything in between.

There are some downsides to shopping solely through online classifies as well, though, such as:

  • Lowered accountability. Classifieds are mostly self-policed to the extent that you might not always get what you paid for.
  • The human element. If you like haggling, this is great. If you just want to pay the price that was quoted in the ad, then you might be annoyed at having to tell some of the more flaky sellers that you’re not going to pay anything extra.

That said, it’s really a case-by-case sort of thing. You might wind up getting a great deal in the classifieds, or you might wind up with a real junker. Bring along a friend who knows their cars if you want to make sure that you’re getting something good.

Cruisin’

Sometimes you see a great car just sitting out on someone’s front lawn with a “for sale” sign in the window. This is great for a number of reasons.

  • These sellers are often desperate. Desperate seller means low price and willingness to haggle.
  • There’s a sort of romance, a sense of fun to buying cars this way, the way they did before cheap classified papers, before the internet. The sense that buying this car is an adventure can be as rewarding as buying the car itself.
  • Getting personally involved. You can see the car with your own eyes before you even contact the seller, and perhaps take it for a test drive before making the purchase.

And then, of course, there are the downsides:

  • You’re really only shopping in your local market with this approach. You’re not going to find that great station wagon the next county over if you’re just walking up and down residential streets.
  • You never know who you’re going to have to deal with if they’re just parking their car out front and throwing a “for sale” sign on it. Some of these sellers can be pretty surly.

This is a great way to get the car of your dreams if you happen to find it, but it does rely on a bit of luck in order to get you what you’re after.

Auction Sites

There are actually quite a few online auto auction sites around these days and they offer a wide range of benefits for used car shoppers:

  • Similar to online classifieds, they offer a wide range of choices. Just about any kind of car you could possibly want, you can find it through an auction site.
  • Auction sites usually let you search by everything from make and model to color and, of course, price. This means that it’s that much easier to find exactly what you’re looking for.
  • Once the auction is settled, so is the price. There’s no haggling. This is a good thing if you hate haggling.

Of course, nothing this good comes without a few downsides:

  • Bidding wars can get very expensive, very quickly.
  • Once the auction is settled, so is the price. There’s no haggling. This is a bad thing if you like haggling.

Here’s the real best place to find used cars: Everywhere.

Finding the right used car and equipping it with the right insurance policy can save you literally thousands of dollars in the long run. Review Car Navigation: Stay on Track with the Best Car GPS Systems

Posted on: | In Car Reviews

Do you still have a bunch of paper maps stuffed into the glove compartment of your car? Today’s technology has made the common street map a thing of the past; car GPS (Global Positioning System) devices are becoming more widespread as the internal electronic review navigation systems Review Car Navigation: Stay on Track with the Best Car GPS Systemscomponents grow to be more inexpensive. However, with all the choices available, what is the best car GPS device? In general, each device has features that are designed for specific users and habits. Luckily, many websites offer comparison evaluations. To compare auto insurance quotes, you simply type in your ZIP code into the FREE tool above!

Built-In GPS

New cars today will usually have the option of adding an integrated GPS system within the dashboard. This form of car GPS is incredibly helpful for everyday driving; users can type a new address into the system through its touch screen and it will verbally and visually instruct the driver in the correct direction. Some devices even have voice recognition so that the new address can be spoken into an integrated microphone and the device responses accordingly.

Built-in GPS is an exciting feature, but consumers should be aware that they can be more expensive than their portable comparisons; the dealer can charge a premium for the hardware, software, and installation fees. Consumers should also note that the GPS will require periodic software updates for new road configurations and better communications with satellites. Unless under warranty, the software updates are usually expensive to purchase.

Portable GPS

Portable GPS units are the most versatile and popular devices sold for car installation. These devices are commonly installed on a permanent stand on the car’s dashboard, or even affixed to the inside of the windshield. In the past, the devices had black and white screens with actual push buttons for maneuvering through the menus. However, current models use color touch screens that can range from small to large viewing areas, based on the consumer’s needs.

Each manufacturer places certain features within the GPS device, but most offer the basics, such as finding a nearby gas station. For example, your car’s gas light illuminates to indicate the need for fuel. If you are in an unfamiliar area, it is possible to drive quite far before stumbling upon a gas station. Luckily, the car GPS can be programmed to find the nearest, and even cheapest, gas station.

There are a few drawbacks to portable GPS units. Unlike the integrated systems, these devices can attract thieves if the GPS unit is left attached on the dashboard. As a preventative measure, consumers should always remove the GPS device from the dashboard each time they park the car; this removal and replacement process can become irritating for some people or they may forget completely.

GPS within Smartphones

top car reviews 2 300x199 Review Car Navigation: Stay on Track with the Best Car GPS SystemsAs smartphones become more widespread, manufacturers are adding more features to entice jaded customers. One particular addition is GPS capability. Instead of a separate GPS device that attaches to the dashboard, consumers can simply pull out their smartphones and triangulate a restaurant or point of interest.

Many consumers enjoy this specific device since they do not need to have two different devices; every needed feature is rolled into one electronic. Consumers should note that these smartphone GPS features will commonly require a data plan for accessing the GPS information. In contrast, the built-in and portable GPS devices do not require any form of data subscription.

Who Needs GPS?

Not everyone will benefit from a car GPS device. If a person simply drives along the same route each day and only ventures across his or her own town, a GPS device will certainly not help him or her; the driver already knows the area. However, these devices were meant for consumers who commute through traffic or drive far distances on a constant basis, such as salespeople.

Vehicle traffic is a nuisance that many people cannot avoid; they must arrive to work each day without fail. However, car GPS offers a reprieve from the stop-and-go traffic. Car GPS can have the feature of real-time traffic; drivers can quickly access the best road or freeway choice based on the traffic data fed into the device. As a result, the driver can find an alternative route if their normal pathway is congested with traffic or an accident.

What about Bluetooth?

gps system reviews Review Car Navigation: Stay on Track with the Best Car GPS SystemsMany drivers use Bluetooth headsets to call friends, family, and colleagues while on the road. However, many car GPS units have a built-in Bluetooth device; this addition allows the driver to use the GPS as a calling device. Calling a person can be as simple as verbally asking the GPS to dial a number and then hearing the conversation directly through the vehicle’s speakers. This feature is especially helpful for consumers that travel for business purposes.

Distractions

Many drivers are concerned about more distractions behind the wheel. A car GPS should not be the center of attention; any physical programming with the touch screen should be done while pulled over or parked. In fact, some states within the United States have barred the devices from being on the dashboard since they can impede the driver’s vision. Using common sense with the device is paramount for a safe driving situation.

To find the best car GPS, plug in your ZIP code within the comparison evaluation window and evaluate all the consumer choices. Be sure to check out reviews of cars with built-in GPS systems. If you would like to also compare auto insurance rates, enter your ZIP code in the FREE tool below now!

Review Car Bluetooth: 6 Ways to Find the Perfect Bluetooth System

Posted on: March 8, 2012 | In Car Reviews

major car insurance companies 300x199 Review Car Bluetooth: 6 Ways to Find the Perfect Bluetooth SystemOlder car technologies were relatively simple; a cassette or CD player embedded in the dashboard was a big luxury. However, newer cars are now using Bluetooth devices to connect almost any compatible device to the vehicle’s dashboard controls. What is Bluetooth? In a nutshell, Bluetooth is a form of wireless communication through the use of short range radio transmissions between the vehicle and an electronic device, such as a smartphone.

Since many car manufacturers are adding this feature to current production models, it is important for consumers to understand the benefits of the technology, as well as finding the best individual match. In fact, there are many websites that offer a comparison feature about Bluetooth enabled cars by plugging in a ZIP code and reading the various choices available in the marketplace. To find auto insurance coverage comparison as well, simply enter your ZIP code into the FREE tool above now!

1. Compatibility

Every device manufacturer uses different software to control everyday functions, from browsing the Internet to receiving a phone call. Although a car and a device may have Bluetooth hardware, that does not necessarily mean that they will instantly connect.

During car shopping, it is imperative for a consumer to test the Bluetooth connection; if this is a feature that is important on the individual’s list, it will be a large letdown if the Bluetooth system does not work with a device after the final purchase. The connection may take a little while to communicate initially, but if the vehicle and device are compatible, the connection will automatically communicate the next time the person enters the car.

2. User Friendliness

Driving requires constant attention to the road; he or she does not need to be distracted by the Bluetooth connection. Consumers should test the pairing between the device and the car to see how easy it is to manipulate during driving. Many vehicles place the phone’s information, through Bluetooth, on the large touchscreen that is integrated within the dashboard. The information should be easy to read with a glance; no tiny numbers or letters should be involved.

Drivers should be able to answer and finish a call with ease; the touchscreen should have a large enough area to press “send” and “receive.” If the Bluetooth communication on the screen is hard to manipulate, the driver will most likely forgo the communication link and resort to a more dangerous choice of pressing the phone’s controls.

3. Control Placement

Looking Down a Long Road with Mountains1 Review Car Bluetooth: 6 Ways to Find the Perfect Bluetooth SystemBluetooth is supposed to make communication easier in the vehicle, not more difficult. One common placement for controls, such as picking up the phone or dialing a number, is through the steering wheel control buttons. Placing Bluetooth controls within the steering wheel allows the driver to keep his or her hands on the wheel, rather than fiddling with controls farther away.

However, a premium Bluetooth system will allow the driver to access the controls on both the dashboard and steering wheel. This configuration provides the passenger with access to the Bluetooth controls, such as engaging in a group conversation over the phone.

4. Voice Recognition Feature

Bluetooth systems need to have a solid voice recognition feature; if a driver needs to keep his or her hands on the wheel, it is nearly impossible to call out on the phone. However, a voice recognition program allows users to ask for the phone to call a friend, colleague, or family member. The hands never need to leave the steering wheel.

Consumers should test this feature before purchasing the vehicle. Some recognition software does not “read” a person’s voice well, causing miscommunication and failed phone calls. During a test drive, consumers should talk to the Bluetooth software to see if it will call anyone correctly and on a consistent basis.

5. Speakers and Audio System

Although speaking on the phone is helpful in the car, some people still want to listen to their favorite tunes on the stereo. The Bluetooth connection should not interfere with the music playing; in fact, the music should slowly recede into silence when a call is received and should calmly pick up volume once the call is finished.

Another feature of the Bluetooth and the stereo system is use of the speakers. A driver can hear a caller much better if the audio is moved through the vehicle’s speakers. Once the music dies down, the caller should be heard loud and clear across all speakers. Consumers should test this feature while driving within a noisy area, such as a freeway, to see if the music and caller react accordingly.

find the perfect bluetooth system 300x284 Review Car Bluetooth: 6 Ways to Find the Perfect Bluetooth System6. Privacy Mode

A driver may have individuals in the car that do not need to hear a particular conversation on the phone. The Bluetooth system should have a simple way to alternate between a full car speaker mode and privacy mode. During the test drive, consumers should test this out. Depending on who is in the car, an improper conversation advertised to all passengers can be embarrassing.

Bluetooth is a convenient car feature, but can have some drawbacks for some drivers if not tested properly before purchasing. Consumers should compare vehicles‘ Bluetooth systems online by typing in their ZIP code and evaluating the different choices in the marketplace.

Review Car Insurance

Posted on: March 3, 2012 | In Car Reviews

Everyone is trying to save money with this economy. When it comes to buying insurance, you need to review your car insurance options, which can have a significant pay off. Comparing quotes and finding out how to make an impact on the cost of your car insurance will allow you to review all options and make an educated decision on which company you should buy your policy from.

Factors for Quotes

The state you live in has the greatest impact on your car insurance. It’s why all car insurance quotes start by asking you for your zip code. From there, it will determine what the minimums are for liability insurance and give you various other options to choose from to create your quote. This will provide you with the information you need to start comparing.

Get the Details on Your Car

In order to review car insurance, you need to know a little bit about your car. Online insurance quotes will need the make, model and year of your car. These are easy questions to answer. What may require a little more research is what kind of safety features your car has. This could include such things as:

  • Antilock brakes
  • Airbags
  • Security system
  • Electronic Stability Control

When your car has more safety features, it can reduce the cost of insurance. This is because it will prevent a lot of accidents from happening in the first place. It can also keep you and all the passengers inside your vehicle safer.

An insurance company won’t have to spend as much money in auto repairs or personal liability claims if you get into an accident in a safe vehicle. As a result of the savings the insurance company gets, they don’t place you in a “high risk” category and thus provide you with more affordable quotes.

By knowing a little bit more about your car, you can save a significant amount of money on your car insurance.

Why Your Zip Code is Used

You need to enter your zip to review car insurance prices. There are a few reasons why everyone wants to know what your zip code is before giving you any kind of quote.

  • The zip defines the state you live in
  • Prices vary between urban, suburban and rural areas
  • High traffic areas have higher insurance premiums

UsedClubCars 300x222 Review Car InsuranceThe first part of the zip code defines what the state minimums are in terms of insurance. California has different liability requirements for drivers to carry than Washington State. This includes the personal liability for one person versus all passengers as well as property liability. Some states also require uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance and Personal Injury Protection. The zip code tells all of the insurance companies how to calculate your quote.

Geography Matters

Another difference has to do with where in the state you live. The difference between a quiet town in Northern California and Los Angeles are dramatically different in terms of traffic. The more traffic there is, the greater chance for accidents. Zip codes that have more accidents have higher levels of insurance because the insurance company knows there is a greater risk of you being involved in one of the accidents – whether you cause it or not.

How to Change the Quote

You can’t change the state minimums and you can’t change your zip code. That doesn’t mean you can’t change the quote, though. Before you review car insurance, you need to make sure that you have everything where you want it. This means paying attention to all of the details such as:

  • Deductible
  • Comprehensive Insurance
  • Rental Insurance

The deductible is the out of pocket money you pay when you make an insurance claim. If the deductible is high, your insurance is low. If your deductible is low, your insurance is high. This is your chance to make a big difference in what you pay every month. Before you make your deductible really high, just keep in mind that money has to come from somewhere if you get into an accident.

Comprehensive insurance is mandatory if you lease a car, but otherwise, it’s your call whether you want it or not. This covers you for all of the things that you have no control over. Hail, someone hitting your parked car in a parking lot, a rock from a truck on the road – these expenses.

car insurance reviews 300x225 Review Car InsuranceRental insurance is also available for when your car is in the shop and you need to rent a car. Be sure to select the right rental car, since that can affect your insurance needs. The more you want per day, the more your insurance goes up. Or you can waive it all together.

Review Car Insurance Through Comparisons

You know how safe your car is and what affects your rate. You even know how to lower your rate. Now it’s time to get insurance quotes from multiple companies to start making comparisons. Review the quotes from the different companies and choose the lowest rate with the most benefits.

Free Classifieds for Dirt Track Race Cars

A common misconception is that placing a free ad for your dirt track race car is going to cost you a lot of money. In fact, most of the web sites you will come across do not charge any base fees for their categories and do make you pay for an image upload.

However, if you want to improve the visibility of the ad, they may charge nominal fees for a featured ad, highlight, or bold listing. In the end, you may find that the basic free offer is all you need to sell your dirt race car online.

dirt race car track 300x225 Dirt Race Car ClassifiedsChoosing a Specific Dirt Track Ad Site

When you are trying to figure out the best way to sell something related to dirt track racing, having a good strategy is important. In general, you would not make a single flyer and hang it up in only one location. Using this logic, be sure to diversify where you place your ad online.

This means adding it to websites that have a dirt race track category on a traditional auto sales website. In general, posting your ad locally to five different places online will give you a good head start.

What I Can Expected From My Ad

Posting your first dirt race car classified can cause a lot of anxiety if you are not good at writing. Despite the pressure this puts on us, it is unnecessary. In general, you will be listing vital parts about the description and including a picture.

The following items are what most people are looking for when they want to buy a dirt race car:

  • Color
  • Car make/model
  • Selling price
  • Contact telephone number

Publishing the Right Kind of Picture

The descriptions for the dirt race car classifieds are brief because most people are looking at the pictures. They do not need to know the history of the item for sale because they are only going to ask you questions if they are interested. Otherwise, your focus should be on making the picture look good.

Getting the right picture is only about what it looks like on your computer. The main thing that the websites want is for the picture to be the right size. This means using a free online photo editing service.

How To Take a Phone Picture for an Ad

Learning how to use the camera on your cell phone is a cinch. After you take the picture of your race car, upload this photo from your phone by sending it to your email. You then can upload it to the photo-editing website of your choice. There, you will create a .jpg file that is between 150 to 300 pixels.

Over at the car ad website, once you submit the wording to your dirt race car ad, you can put up the picture. The picture is usually the final step of the ad posting process.

Tips On Dirt Race Car Selling Culture

dirt race classifieds Dirt Race Car ClassifiedsIf you randomly own a dirt race car and want to sell it, it pays to know a little bit about this culture and what to expect during a sale. From the dirt race car forums online, you soon see that lots of people travel from far away to pick up parts and check out new rides. For this reason, you can expect out of town visitors when you sell your race car.

This also means that you should expect payment in person. Some of the problems you will hear about involve scams. Follow this advice and do not be duped by someone offering to send you a fake check that they reverse later in order to get you to ship the car. Anything involving Money Gram or Western Union are also eye-brow raising requests and never give a potential buyer any of your banking or credit card information.

Keep in mind that you will still need to transfer titles in some cases. In other words, it should be easy to see a con artist disguised as a dirt race car classified buyer when they start cutting corners.

Promote Your Business With Dirt Track Ads

Are you part of the dirt track race car industry and need to tell the world? In addition to posting free race car ads for a dirt track audience, there are also many services offered on these websites. For example, towing race cars from dirt tracks is a specialized business that local drivers need to know about.

For this reason, you can use the advice in this article to feel confident about posting any type of dirt race car classifieds. Use our FREE comparison tool below to find a list of auto insurance rates by entering your ZIP code now!

Luxury Car Classifieds

Posted on: February 21, 2012 | In Car Reviews

Luxury cars, unlike normal cars, have a specific group of people who own them. Whether you’re buying or selling a car, it pays to put it in front of those who can afford and appreciate it. With luxury cars, more often than not, a typical newspaper classified isn’t going to cut it. Depending on just how high end the car is, it may require a specialty publication to get it sold. Otherwise, it will be seen as little more than a curiosity.

Check your potential insurance rates by entering your ZIP code here to compare your car insurance for FREE!

lamborghini car reviews Luxury Car ClassifiedsBasics of Luxury Car Classifieds

Classified ads that sell luxury cars typically involve two critical elements. The most obvious of these is the color photograph. Being the first thing that viewers see, a catchy picture can do more to sell the car than the description will.

The description, while providing an in-depth look at the details of the car, should still be to the point. The key is to provide just enough detail to get potential buyers interested while at the same time not giving them so much information that they don’t have to call you to learn more.

Selling a Luxury Car Through Classifieds

Both online and print classifieds can be used to successfully sell a luxury automobile. Each has an audience that is partial to that specific form of media. Many car enthusiasts simply enjoy the feel of a print publication. They can dogear the pages, collect them as one might collect magazines, and see them as a “dream book” of sorts. While online luxury car classifieds have practically none of these attributes, they do have their share of benefits. Usually, online classifieds are free to access, while print publications are not. This means that far more potential buyers can view the ad. Additionally, print publications tend to be regional, while online classifieds can be seen all around the world.

Don’t Skimp On the Preparations

luxury car classifieds 300x260 Luxury Car ClassifiedsThe first thing that needs to be done, though, is to have the car professionally detailed. A good detail will remove all the signs that the car has been regularly driven. They’ll clean the wheels and tires, polish the paint, and thoroughly clean the interior. They’ll scrub the engine thoroughly, and deep-clean the chassis so the car will look nearly new.

Once its clean, the car will need to be photographed. Unfortunately, many owners don’t realize just how important a good photograph is. A cell phone picture simply won’t be good enough. First, choose a location for your photo. Avoid overly busy backdrops, as these can detract from the car. For inspiration, look at the photos you see in enthusiast magazines. Some pictures are taken in empty parking lots so that there is a minimum of background in the picture. Take the picture using a polarizing filter, if possible, and whatever you do, avoid using models. A pretty girl or your smiling face behind the wheel might seem like a great picture, but again, all it does is shift the focus away from the car.

For the description, give the vehicle’s year, make and model, its engine size and any special equipment it has. Make a note of any special modifications and then list the car’s mileage. To sell the car quickly, consider running ads in both print publications and online. In this way, you’ll get the largest circulation possible, and you’ll be more likely to realize your full asking price.

Buying a Luxury Car Through Classifieds

Getting a great deal on a luxury car through classifieds isn’t particularly difficult. Both you and the seller are eliminating the middleman, meaning that you can expect to pay a lower price than you would at a dealership, and the seller can expect a higher price than they would receive for a trade in.

It’s important to have your financing worked out ahead of time, though. If you are seriously considering the purchase of a luxury car, obtain the auto loan before you start looking through the luxury car classifieds. If you do this, you’ll be more likely to be able to act quickly and buy the car you want quickly before other buyers have the opportunity to do so. Once you’ve found a car that suits you, check the insurance rates here to find out what the cost of ownership will be.

The safest method of payment to use for large transactions is a cashier’s check. This is the safest transaction method, working similarly to a personal check and cash, but protecting your personal information, as well.

Be Sure Of Your Decision

luxury classified tips 150x150 Luxury Car ClassifiedsFinally, make sure that you properly review the car before you make a deal. Regardless of how luxurious the car is, it still may have been mistreated. Watch for signs such as thick oil with metal shavings, corrosion inside the radiator and transmission slippage. A proper inspection by a certified mechanic will ensure that you get what you pay for.

Although some buyers won’t, you should never make a purchase sight unseen. Not only does this open you up to a fraudulent transaction, but you could come away with a vehicle that is not at all what you expected. While both sides of the transaction have to be careful with how they proceed, there is no question that luxury car classifieds are a great way to both buy and sell a high end car. 2011 Audi R8 Spyder Manual Review

Posted on: February 6, 2012 | In Audi

audi car review 300x187 2011 Audi R8 Spyder Manual ReviewThe 2011 Audi R8 Spyder Manual is an impressive convertible supercar available with a choice of two super powerful engines. For such a fast, agile supercar, Audi did a great job making this Spyder comfortable, stylish and easy to drive every day. The hefty price tag gets a buyer everything wonderful that is typical of Audi, for slightly less than a similar Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and just over half the cost of Lamborghini’s Gallardo Spyder. It’s looks are an obvious talking point, as they are just as exotic, and possibly more, than the higher-end supercars the R8 aspires to.

Though the R8 Spyder is also available in an automatic version of both the 4.2 liter and 5.2 liter engines, only the manual versions are reviewed here. Enter your ZIP code into our FREE insurance comparison tool above to save money on car insurance!

Pricing

Car and Driver lists trim level prices of the 2011 Audi R8 Spyder Manual as follows:

  • R8 Manual Quattro Spyder 4.2 liter- $131,950
  • R8 Manual Quattro Spyder 5.2 liter- $166,950

Engine and Performance

The Audi’s R8 Spyder’s manual engine options include a 4.2 liter 6-speed V8 and a 5.2 liter 6-speed with a V10. The 4.2 liter makes2011AudiR8Spyder2 300x217 2011 Audi R8 Spyder Manual Review a net 430 horsepower, and 317 lb/ft of torque between 4500 and 6000 RPMs. This all-wheel-drive engine is equipped with 4-wheel ABS and ventilated disc brakes in front and rear.

The 5.2 liter V10 is impressive for many reasons, one being that it is also used in the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. Of course, the Lambo’s engine makes more horsepower and costs a good deal more. This super-quick engine makes 525 horse at 8,000 RPMs, and 391 lb/ft of torque at 6,500 RPMs.

The R8 Spyder is fitted with the Quattro all-wheel drive system, helping keep this car stuck to the road like glue without being too harsh.

Comfort and Convenience

The R8 Spyder comes standard with 19-inch wheels, automatic rear spoiler, black glossy rear engine air vents, soft top, LED head lights and brake lights, rain-sensing wipers and automatic dimming folding side mirrors.

The interior features heated, leather seats, center console with storage and cupholders, navigation system, leather trim, and storage compartments. These standard Audi features easily make this sports car a great daily-driver option.

The R8 Spyder also comes equipped with a parking system with a rear camera, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, Bluetooth capability and Audi’s MMI (Multi Media Interface), which provides navigation, entertainment, information and music when a driver feels the urge. Also included is SiriusXM Satellite Radio. The 4.2 liter does not come with the parking assistance or the Ban & Olufsen sound system.

Safety

Honestly, buyers contemplating a supercar like the R8 Spyder are most likely not looking for a cushy, safe family car. They know the risks of racing at speeds so fast it is like flying. The R8 does come with standard safety features of most Audis, though. These include 4-wheel ABS, engine immobilizer, self-leveling headlamps, post-collision safety system and stability and traction control. Dual front side-mounted airbags with head protection as well as head restraint whiplash protections systems load up the R8 Spyder with even more protection.

If a buyer really is looking at the R8 Spyder for a family car, it is nice to know that there are child seat anchors and a passenger-side airbag deactivation switch.

Available Colors

This beautiful specimen of a supercar is available in several sublime colors. These include Brilliant Red, Daytona Gray Pearl Effect, Ibis White, Ice Silver Metallic, Jet Blue Metallic, Lava Gray Pearl Effect, Phantom Black Pearl Effect and Teak Brown Metallic.

Interior options are Black or Titanium Gray leather/alcantara, or Black, Lunar Silver, Luxor Beige, Nougat Brown, Red or Titanium Gray premium leather.

Roof color options are Black, Brown or Red.

Fuel Efficiency

The R8 Spyder makes about 11 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. If a driver really takes the Spyder out on the wild side, it will show in

2011AudiR8Spyder 300x225 2011 Audi R8 Spyder Manual Reviewhorrible fuel economy. If a driver is going to burn up some fuel, the Audi R8 Spyder is the car to do it with.

Drivers’ Opinions and Competitors

The R8 Spyder’s top competitors are Aston Martin DB9 Volante, Ferrari F430 Spider, Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder, Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG and Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet. Though the R8 Spyder shares an engine with the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, it is a slightly less powerful one. Some reviewers on AOL Autos’ website say that if they were to pay for a supercar of this caliber, they would want the best possible. There is no denying the Lamborghini is more powerful and faster. With that said, the R8 Spyder is super quick and handles like a dream. For the money, this supercar is a great deal.

Most drivers do not like the touchy R-tronic model, and prefer the standard manual. Some even say that, as a daily driver, there is not much difference between the V10 and the V8. The price difference between the 4.2 liter and the 5.2 liter is enormous and not justifiable in every case. 2011 Audi Q7 TDI Diesel Review

Posted on: February 5, 2012 | In Car Reviews

2011AudiQ7TDI2 300x199 2011 Audi Q7 TDI Diesel Review As efficient as it is attractive, the 2011 diesel Q7 offers a lot to the consumer–  excellent cargo space, passenger seating, engine capability and fuel economy.  This diesel is helping continue to change consumers’ mindsets on diesels: They are no longer ozone-killing, black smoke-spewers as Motor Trend describes, but, in fact, have come a long way.

The Q7 TDI’s exterior is loved by most, with excellent color choices which help capture the menacing yet luxurious essence of the SUV.

The Q7 TDI offers buyers luxury, space and a fun drive. It should not be mistaken for a boring SUV, though. With it’s turbo-injected V6 and newly updated 8-speed transmission, this Q7 TDI has become impressively high-spirited driving machine. Enter your ZIP code into our FREE insurance comparison tool above to save money on car insurance!

Pricing

Car and Driver lists base prices for the 2011 Audi Q7 TDI Diesel trim levels as follows:

  • Q7 Quattro 3.0 liter TDI Premium- about $52,325
  • Q7 Quattro 3.0 liter TDI Premium Plus- about $58,325
  • Q7 Quattro 3.0 liter TDI Prestige- about $64,325

The Q7 TDI diesel continues to beat the non-diesel Q7 in value in 2011 due to excellent fuel economy for its class. The Q7 TDI runs at high cost, but expensive vehicles, though more expensive to run, offer more luxury and better performance than less expensive vehicles. In essence, you get what you are willing to pay for.

Engine and Performance

The base Q7 TDI, the Premium model, is fitted with a 3-liter, direct-injection diesel V6 that makes 225 horsepower. This SUV, 2011Audi Q7TDI1 300x300 2011 Audi Q7 TDI Diesel Reviewfitted with the Quattro all-wheel drive system, comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift feature.

The 8-speed transmission is a new set up. The old one was only 6 speeds, and the difference is extraordinary. Transitions between gears are smoother and less noticeable. Paired with incredible torque, the 2011 Q7 TDI is powerful with excellent braking and smooth, firm ride. Both the old Q7 diesel and gas engines were more sluggish than the newly updated versions, making the 2011 Q7s more desirable.

This SUV boasts independent suspension and a tow capacity up to 6,600 pounds. When tested, the Q7 TDI reaches 60 mph in 8.6 seconds– rivaling some sedans half the weight. And, again, rivaling some sport sedans, the Q7 TDI’s stop speed from 60 mph took a mere 124 feet.

Because of its torque and overall power, passing other vehicles on the road is fun and easy. Off the line, the SUV calls forth a growl of anticipation which adds to the Q7 TDI experience.

 Comfort and Convenience

They would not be considered a luxury brand if Audi did not provide the features that go along with the name. Audi’s MMI (Multi Media Interface) provides for your pleasure– entertainment, communication, information and car setup controls. The base Q7 TDI also comes with SIRIUS satellite radio for 3 months, Bluetooth phone setup, iPod integration and Audi’s 7-channel extended sound system with 11 speakers.

The seven-passenger SUV’s creature comforts include heated front seats, adjustable recline middle row, rear center console with storage and cup holders, automatic and programmable locks, decorative wood accents, dual climate controls, 5 power outlets, 4 bottle holders in addition to the cup holders, a retractable cargo storage cover and cooled, waterproof storage under the back storage floor board. The 2011 Q7 TDI’s front bucket seats have been described as feeling like La-Z-Boys on Motor Trend’s website.

On the outside, the Q7 TDI features dual exhaust tips, 19-inch wheels, chrome detailing, privacy window tint and LED rear lights. The SUV also features wipers that sense rain and cold as well as a powered tailgate.

Safety

The Q7 TDI includes 4-wheel ABS, stability and traction control, emergency braking assist and ventilated disc brakes. In addition to the remote alarm system, the SUV features a post-collision safety system and engine immobilizer. Airbags are placed at the driver’s and all passengers’ heads. Also included are dual side airbags in the front, and optional side airbags in the rear.

The 2011 Q7 TDI was not tested for safety on the more strict NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) safety scale, but the Administration did rate the Q7 at an 18.5% chance of rollover.

Available Colors

The Q7 TDI Premium model is available in a myriad of colors that can be paired with beautiful, luxurious leather options. Cobalt Blue Metallic, Daytona Gray Pearl Effect, Graphite Gray Metallic, Ibis White, Ice Silver Metallic, Lava Gray Pearl Effect, Mugello Blue Pearl Effect, Orca Black Metallic and Teak Brown Metallic are the color options.

Pair any one of these with either Black, Cardamom, Espresso or Limestone colored leather seats and trim for an aesthetically pleasing set up.

Fuel Efficiency

The EPA estimates about 17 mpg city, and 25 mpg highway with a combined estimate of 20 mpg. A road test done by Car and Driver staff showed that over about 41,000 highway miles the Q7 TDI made 21 mpg.

Owners’ Opinions and Competitors

2011AudiQ7TDI3 300x225 2011 Audi Q7 TDI Diesel Review2011 Q7 TDI owners love their SUVs for two important reasons: excellent fuel economy and a great drive. Most owners report high gas mileage and prefer the diesel engine over gas engines over the long haul. Also, these diesel-loving SUV owners love the size and feel of the Q7 TDI, stating that maneuverability is not compromised by it’s large size.

Compared to other similar SUVs as listed on Motor Trend’s website, such as Infiniti’s QX56 and Land Rover’s Range Rover Sport, the Q7 TDI’s fuel economy rises above. Also, the Audi’s base model is less expensive than Infiniti’s or Land Rover’s, though these two have larger, more expensive engines in them. Overall, compared to the QX56 and Range Rover, Audi’s Q7 TDI wins out in style, luxury, efficiency and practicality.
