Honda Gives US Plants Production Timeline

Starting today, many Honda plants in the United States are going to see that their production is cut down by nearly half as the company has decided to do this since the plants in Japan are not able to work on a full-time basis. Most people are finding this odd since Honda does do business with a number of manufacturers in North America that produces the components of many of their vehicles. However, they still do rely on a few parts from Japan, and this is just going to show how one part that is no longer available, can halt the production of the cars altogether.

However, not all the plants in the United States are going to be shut down at the same time or for the same amount of time. The headquarters has stated that these shutdowns are based on the availability of parts for those plants that are making a certain vehicle. The company released information on each plant in the US that is going to be affected. The plant located in Maysville, Ohio will run four hours on each shift on lines one and two. In Allison, Ontario each shift will run for four hours a day. The same can be said for plants that are located in Lincoln, Alabama, and Honda's Greensburg Ind. Those plants that may not see much difference are those that are located in Mexico, the plant in Anna, Ohio and the plant in East Liberty, Ohio who will be running based on the production that is needed.

Honda has declined to say what parts are in shortage and are the reason for this decrease of work time. However, they did say that those who work at the affected plants have three options. They can stay at the plant during those hours in which they will not be actually producing cars and get paid, they can take a vacation or take time off without pay.
