Alfa Romeo Release in North America Pushed Back
Alfa Romeo had been set to start its comeback to North America in 2012, however, this comeback has been pushed back by half a year, and 2013 will be the new year for the release of Alfa Romeo into the North American market. The reason for this is that the CEO, Sergio Marchionne, is not really satisfied with the offerings that the automaker has to present the public. He feels that without the right cars that the comeback would be pointless and that the auto brand would not take off like they want.
The Guilia was the car that was set to release into the North American market. However, according to sources that are close to the issue state that the styling and offerings that the car had were not up to par with what they believe the North American market would get behind and actually purchase.
The platform that the Alfa Romeo cars share are those with what Chrysler has to offer. Thus far, the CEO is not truly satisfied with what Chrysler designers are coming up with to be the sister cars of the Guilia. The goal for Alfa Romeo is to hit around 85,000 sales for the first year that the car is available in the United States. However, with what they now have to work with, they do not believe that these sales goals would be reached. The big question that everyone is wondering is if the public would even get behind the brand being released into the North American market?
Most of those that are close to the issue think that the brand could make a comeback, however, with the price that the automaker is going to have to dish out in order to start up dealerships and build the cars in the US, it seems that they may have a long road ahead in which they would finally see a profit from the venture.
