Fire Brings out the Good in Workers and Shows Dedication
Magna Exteriors and Interiors Corporation was wrecked by a fire on March 2nd, having around a third of the building in which houses the factory becoming blackened ash. Though, they are still unsure of what has caused the fire as of right now. President of the corporation, Robert Brownlee knew that they had a big problem since the plant provides things such as headliners, door panels and such items for General Motors, Ford and Nissan. Due to the fire there are many automakers who slowed down their production on their vehicles in order to allow the corporation time to figure out just what to do. However, Brownlee only gave the corporation two days to figure out a way in which they could still keep producing.
This is perhaps one of the best crisis management plans that we can see be putting into work. Brownlee, as soon as being notified that there was a fire started to brainstorm ideas with management. These ideas included taking the equipment and parts that were salvageable to their other plants. While they also ordered the other plants in the United States to start producing around the clock parts so that no automaker was without their supply.
However, it is what the workers and the plant did in order to make sure that they were able to operate in the plant instead of shipping their work out. The workers and engineers set up a temporary line in order to make the parts that were located in the factory that was affected by the fire. Due to the fact that the plant was completely with electric and heat, the workers showed up wearing snow suits and gloves helping to move debris and get the plant working once again, while Brownlee ordered dozens of generators to keep electricity to the plant. And true to the deadline set for himself, two days later the workers did start producing some parts.
