Gas Prices Expected To Rise Just in Time For Holidays

News for those that plan to be traveling during the holidays that most will find unsurprising, is that the price of gasoline is going to be increasing. In fact, many professionals think that the gas prices will be the highest that they have been all year long during this holiday season. This is news that for most will definitely be upsetting. Especially as more and more people are out of jobs, and the holidays are a time of pressure already.

Right now the average cost for a gallon of regular gas is around $2.87. By the time for traveling for holidays, professionals are estimating that this will rise by eight cents. However, for those areas, such as California that boast higher gas prices in the first place, they could be facing paying over three dollars for a gallon of regular gasoline.

Why this sudden change? Those who are asked in the general public would say that the oil companies are just trying to maximize their returns when they know that many people travel great distances to visit families they may be located out of state or at least out of town. However, professionals are saying that the reason for this increase is due to the many issues that refineries have been facing in the recent months.

It has been reported that this past week has been a time of increase of price in gasoline, even though there has been some great news in the terms of economic recovery. For the future, it doesn't seem that things are going to get any better at the pump. Professionals in the industry are expecting that this holiday rise will slightly suffice after January, but then comes the time for summer driving, in which they expect the price to rise once again.

With this news, perhaps travel will be affected for the holiday season as many people will have to choose between seeing their extended family or giving their children a good Christmas.
