Lotus Premieres Six Cars at Paris Auto Show
At the Paris auto show, Lotus went a bit extreme and debuted six new cars that are set to be released over a span of five years, which was the main talk of the Paris show, delighting many people. This may seem a bit extreme, but with the current state of Lotus, something had to be done or the company could risk losing it all.
The manufacturer is facing a sales count of around 2400 cars for 2010. Due to this, the company is slowly making its way into more debt while on the verge of becoming extinct, hence the tactics at the Paris auto show.
After a new CEO was named to Lotus, the whole team underwent major changes, as more outsiders were brought in to give a fresh perspective to the company and perhaps to figure out just what they should do. The new CEO comes from Ferrari, and along with him came an engineer from Ferrari, meaning that the new designs have a completely new feel to them. This is when the design team came up with the six models to debut over the next five years.
Most people are eager to see if Lotus can pull off the goal of six new cars in five years, and if this truly will help them get out of debt. However, to add difficulty to the task, the looks of the new cars are going to be in direct competition with Porsche, which means that competition is going to be even stiffer. Which has many people speculating that Lotus may not be able to get their profits back into the black.
There will be more news released about the cars as their release date approaches, however, thus far the names of the cars are the 2014 Lotus Elan, 2015 Lotus Elise, 2014 Lotus Elite, 2014 Lotus Espirit, 2015 Lotus Eterne and the Lotus City Car Concept.
