Morgan Motor Company Releasing New Model of Threewheeler
The Morgan Motor Company has been on a time out from the car making business, for around 58 years now. However, they have officially jumped back into the game with their new 2011 car that will be released later this year or in the early months of next year.
The new 2011 Threewheeler is much similar to the Threewheeler released in the early 1900s, however, Morgan Motor Company has not broadcasted just what aspects will change from the earlier years to the later model.
What Morgan Motor Company did tell consumers is that the interior of the Threewheeler will resemble an airplane cockpit. The dash panel will have toggle switches that are made of aluminum, much like airplanes. While a bomb release style button will be how the car is started. In addition, the seats, dashboard and steering wheel are all covered in leather, much similar to an airplane.
Engine wise, the Threewheeler will have a Harley Davidson 1800CC Screamin’ Eagle V-Twin engine that is supposedly rumored to give the rear wheels around 100 horsepower. The gearbox is manufactured by Mazda and is a five speed. The top speed for the Threewheeler is around 115 miles per hour, while the vehicle goes from zero to sixty in 4.5 seconds.
The shape of the car is much similar to that of a bullet and past models produced by Morgan, such as the Super Sport Aeros from 1927 to 1939. Due to the bullet shape of the car, the engine is exposed and sits in the front of the car in order to protect the passenger.
The Threewheeler also includes a side mounted exhaust that is visible to everyone, much like those models of Morgan cars before it.
Most people are viewing this car as more of a motorcycle, given its engine and three wheel design with the capacity to carry a passenger a bit more comfortably. Overall, the car seems to be Morgan’s way in getting back into the game. However, it is uncertain whether the public will embrace the Threewheeler once again or not. Years ago, during the time of the first Threewheeler production, they were thought of as great vehicles to own, however, that was before the advanced technological cars that are available today.
One thing is for certain, those antique car collectors, will enjoy adding this car to their collection as it is sure to be one of those cars that become collectibles in a few years after the production ceases on these models.
