Scion New FR-S Debuts

Toyota and Subaru have been working together to develop a rear wheel drive sports car, and this has not been a secret, though many wondered if they would be able to develop such a thing that would appeal to the consumers. Other people wondered if the car would hold the Toyota brand or if they would put the car under the Scion label. The answers were discovered at the New York Auto Show as the Scion FR-S was debuted.

The car is a front engine, rear wheel drive car that also employs two liter engine, while also have direct and port injection which increases the horsepower of these vehicles quite a bit. The transmission option are going to be six speed manual or automatic. However, everyone needs to take into consideration that this was only a concept car, so what we see on the lots may be entirely different than what was shown at the show. However, the fundamentals of the car should stay the same, most people are believing that they will change the style of the car somewhat since it is a bit aggressive for the Scion brand.

The looks of the car does gather some styling cues from the Toyota 2000GT, which is shown in the dominating lines of the car and so forth. They are likely to tone this down a bit in order to make it more appealing to the majority of drivers that would be interested in the car. So when can people expect the Scion FR-S to be released onto the lots for purchase?

This car is set to start selling next year, with it either being a 2013 model more than likely. The person can expect to pay around $25,000 for the car, which is going to make it very popular with those that want a sportier car without paying the high sticker price, and with the other attributes of the car, Scion is likely to see a jump in sales.
