Volt Announces Fuel Mileage
The Chevrolet Volt has been given a mileage rate of 93 miles per gallon in combined highway and city driving while running on the batteries that the Volt has in it. When running on the generator alone, the car is estimated to get around 37 miles per gallon. And while running on a combination of batteries and generator, the car will get around 60 miles per gallon.
Many people's first question when these figures were released on Wednesday, is exactly how is the car getting this type of mileage per gallon when running without fuel? These figures are for comparison purposes so that consumers can get an idea of how much more fuel efficient the battery and generator are when compared to using actually gasoline. The figures are only there to allow people to see not only the fuel mileage, but just how much money that they could save themselves at the pump if they drove a car such as the Volt.
Chevrolet released their statistics, after Nissan released their statistics for the Leaf, which will be the main competition for the Volt. The Leaf is estimated to get 99 miles per gallon in combined highway and city driving. So the question that many consumers are asking, which is better?
That is a tough question, as they both have characteristics that are desirable. However, keep in mind the Volt has won several awards already for the design and functioning of the car. Which has put the Volt at the head of the list in many people's idea of what they want from a car that offers the ability to function on both gasoline and other technology. In addition, many corporate companies have already put in their orders for the Volt in order to show that their companies are going green in order to protect the environment.
The Volt goes on sale sometime next week.
