2011 BMW 745li

Posted on: October 23, 2010 | In BMW

The BMW 745Li is an excellent sedan car, which is a pleasure to drive or in which to be driven around. The interior of the 745Li is very smart and extremely comfortable. There is plenty of space for both passengers and luggage. The interior is trimmed with luxurious materials such as leather, wood and brushed aluminum, and there are some interesting features such as electric window shades which help to make the ride more comfortable.

The driver's experience of the 745Li is also incredibly comfortable. This is a responsive car that is very enjoyable to drive, even over long distances. It handles well, with plenty of power, and has superb brakes. The excellent brakes are one of the features for which the BMW 745Li is best known. This vehicle is excellent over long distances and it is also an enjoyable drive over difficult roads.

Bmw 750li

The Active Roll Stabilization features ensures that the 745Li corners smoothly and with very little roll. The Adaptive Ride Package that is sometimes offered as an optional extra with the 745Li can improve the handling of this car even more. It is provided as standard on the 2011 745Li. This package includes Electronic Damping Control, which adjusts the shock absorbers to provide the appropriate firmness for different types of road surface. The driver also has the option of switching to Sport mode using a switch on the console for an even firmer, sportier ride, although most drivers will rarely use this function.

One feature that may prove useful is that the 745Li's doors will be held open at any position to which they are opened, unlike most door check systems, which generally are only able to hold the door open at certain predetermined positions. This feature will be particularly useful for parents with young children who need to be strapped in or attended to, or drivers whose passengers find it difficult to get in and out of a car and are, therefore, at risk of coming to harm should the door swing shut.

The design of the 745Li has been criticized for a lack of elegance, although this is largely a matter of personal taste and many people find that once they are accustomed to the style they actually find it attractive. The rear of the car has sometimes been considered too large and heavy looking. The size of the car does not make it difficult to drive, however. The steering is very responsive and performance is excellent.

BMW have used a lot of aluminum in the manufacturing of the 745Li, notably creating an aluminum suspension. The use of aluminum has significantly reduced the weight, making the 745Li a more comfortable vehicle in which to ride and ensures that the car handles well, even on difficult surfaces.

The BMW 745Li compares favorably with its competitors in terms of performance. It outperforms the Audi A8L, the Mercedes Benz S430 and the Jaguar XJ8. The 745Li can reach speeds of 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds.

The main problem with the 745Li is the iDrive interface system, which is supposed to make the driving experience easier and allow the driver to enjoy all of the benefits which modern technology can bring. In reality, however, the iDrive system can seem to make things more complicated rather than making them easier. The controls which the driver is expected to use can be confusing and some of them are small and difficult to use. The area around the driver appears cluttered and overwhelming. It can take some time to become accustomed to this iDrive interface and work out how to work through the menus and sub-menus which control the navigation, communication, entertainment and climate systems.

Apart from the iDrive system, the 745Li is an excellent car that is a pleasure to drive. It is worth being patient with the iDrive interface and taking some time to get to know it in order to be able to enjoy the BMW 745Li without being confused by the controls.

The BMW 745Li is a car with excellent build quality, luxurious interior materials, and superb acceleration, handling and comfort. These cars also offer passengers plenty of room for an enjoyable ride. The main drawbacks of the BMW 745Li, which it shares with the other models in the BMW 7 series, are the poor fuel economy and that the iDrive control layout is confusing and difficult to use. Drivers who can cope with the inconvenient iDrive interface, or who rarely need to adjust or use these features, will find that the BMW 745Li is a superb car that is among the best performers in its class.

2011  BMW 745li Review

The 2011 BMW 745li is full of unique and innovative feature helping the advances one traditionally expects of a new BMW: namely, evolution in suspension, steering, brakes, wheels and tires. But make no mistake: The 2011 BMW 745li also propels the road capabilities of the largest BMW Series decisively into the future with fascinating innovations: Aluminum suspension. Most major components are of aluminum, which compared to steel reduces unsprung weight. In turn, this enhances riding comfort and, on irregular road surfaces, handling as well. The brake calipers, which move up and down with the wheels as they encounter road irregularities, are also of aluminum for the same reason. Active Roll Stabilization. Combining with the evolutionary aluminum suspension, Active Roll Stabilization is a revolutionary feature. Its primary function is to reduce body roll in cornering, which improves handling by virtue of improved suspension geometry (wheel angles relative to vertical) resulting from the reduced roll.

In place of conventional, purely mechanical anti-roll (stabilizer) bars, ARS senses cornering motion and hydraulically twists specially configured anti-roll bars to counteract body roll; drivers and passengers alike marvel at The 2011 BMW 745li amazingly "flat" cornering.

For even more amazing handling and ride comfort: Electronic Damping Control Offered as part of an optional Adaptive Ride Package on all the models and standard on The 2011 BMW 745li, EDC takes handling and ride capabilities to an even higher level. Yet EDC has evolved in a way that makes it significantly better than before. Like so many of The 2011 BMW 745li ' innovations, this system too is "stepless," adjusting the shock absorbers to any level of firmness between their softest and firmest settings, with a range of benefits:

  • Ride firmness is always at the optimum level for the current road conditions, vehicle speed and the passenger-and-cargo load carried.
  • On smooth roads, the shock absorbers are kept "soft" for best comfort.
  • When the vehicle is rounding a sharp corner or curve, the shock absorbers are instantly adjusted to a firmer, just-right level.
  • When the vehicle encounters irregular road surfaces, such as bumps or ripples ("washboard" surface), the shocks are automatically adjusted to the optimum level of firmness to control ride motions, keep riding comfort at an acceptable level, and maintain adhesion to the road.
  • Additionally, there is a Sport setting via a console switch that increases firmness for a sportier driving feel.

2011 BMW 745li brakes' swift, sure stopping power is legend, so it should be no surprise that the 7 Series incorporates one of the most powerful braking systems ever employed in a production BMW. The brake discs are ventilated all around, with robust 348-mm/13.6-in. diameter at the front and 345-mm/13.7-in. diameter at the rear. But large dimensions are by no means these brakes' only salient features: Aluminum calipers, mentioned earlier in the suspension context, reduce unsprung weight. Electronic brake proportioning. Via the Dynamic Stability Control wheel-speed sensors, the amount of slip at each wheel is measured when the brakes are applied, and pressure is apportioned to the front and rear brakes accordingly. This makes best use of the available braking traction at the tires and helps distribute brake and tire wear more evenly.

Among them are – Stepless door checks. Even with the 2-position door checks of other BMWs, how many times have we wished for another place to hold the door open so that we could get in or out while avoiding hitting something with the door? The 7's door checks are hydraulic and stepless, holding the door at any position to which the occupant opens it. They are effective with the vehicle pointing uphill up to 10*, or leaning to one side or the other up to 6*. Seating: many choices. The head restraints are coupled with fore-aft seat adjustment: farther forward (shorter driver), lower head restraint and vice versa. (Fine adjustment of the head restraints is manual.) Counting the head-restraint movement as a power adjustment, the front seats are 14-way driver / 12-way passenger, including 4-way power lumbar.

2011 BMW 745i

Posted on: October 22, 2010 | In BMW

BMW introduced its radically new 2011 BMW 745i with styling that still is controversial, with unusual looking front and rear ends. It’s lavishly upholstered, trimmed and equipped, although its highlight is the high-tech V12. The smooth new 6-liter engine produces 438 horsepower and enormous torque. The car weighs a hefty 4,872 pounds, but the V12 gives it the response of a smaller, lighter car. The unibody’s steel components have been treated to resist corrosion. However, the engine hood and front fenders are made of aluminum. It has been built on the new E65-E66 platform which has the advantage of offering almost perfect front/rear weight distribution (50.5/49.5% front/rear).

Despite the wide fascia, the 745 sports a remarkable drag coefficient of 0.29 in the wind tunnel. The body is extremely rigid in torsion and in flexion and therefore constitutes a solid base for the wheel axles. The fully independent suspension is based on front struts and a rear four-link axle with anti-drive and anti-pitch controls.

Most of the suspension components are made of aluminum to maximize weight reduction. The front and rear stabilizer bars of new 2011 BMW 745i contribute to canceling out roll because they are counter-activated by a hydraulic motor. Buyers may also select the optional Electronic Damping Control (EDC) system designed to vary the stiffness of the shock absorbers to ensure the correct balance between comfort and handling. Four power-assisted ventilated discs are assisted by an antilock and traction control system integrated in the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system which manages handling as well as brake pressure in emergency situations. This highly evolved technology ensures neutral handling in curves and reacts when the driver makes a false maneuver or when dictated by the quality of the road surface. Although new 2011 BMW 745i carries over the same displacement, the engine is brand new. This V8 features an alloy block and cylinder heads, DOHC distribution and 4 valves per cylinder. The VANOS distribution system is innovative.

The German equivalent of VTEC technology, it varies the intake and exhaust valve timing by adjusting the camshaft. This technology is paired up to the VALVETRONIC system, which controls the intake valves without a throttle butterfly. Fuel injection and ignition are managed by a Bosch Motronic ME9 module. The 6-speed automatic transmission is electronically controlled and features a semi-automatic mode. This adaptive transmission shifts gears according to road conditions or driving habits. The 2011 2011 BMW 745i cars are large, with even the base 745i having a 117.7-inch wheelbase. But the longer-wheelbase versions have limousine-style back seat room and look more impressive. The 2011 2011 BMW 745i have a 123.2-inch wheelbase and are 203.5 inches long, compared with 198 inches for the 745i. Is the V12 needed? Not really, unless an owner wants bragging rights or lives near wide-open Southwestern highways. The V8 whisks the 7-Series sedan to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, whereas the V12 version hits 60 in 5.4 seconds. Top speed of both versions is electronically limited to 149 mph.

2011 BMW Z3

Posted on: October 15, 2010 | In BMW

When you are driving The 2011 BMW Z3 you feel more in control of the road and more secure. Of course, rigidity is always an issue for an open-top car, and BMW’s engineers took a number of measures to ensure that the Z4 would be stiffer than its predecessor. Among these is a pair of Y-shaped engine-bearing chassis rails that forms a side sill and half of the central driveshaft tunnel. The 2011 2011 BMW Z3 should make a fine companion for commuters, though non-enthusiasts who regularly drive on crumbling pavement will probably be happier without the 18-inch tires and sport suspension calibrations.

The 2011 BMW Z3 is the first BMW-branded vehicle with an electric power steering system. The 3.0-liter inline six that turns out 225 hp at 5,900 rpm and 214 lb-ft at 3,500 rpm features double VANOS continuously variable valve timing for the intake and exhaust valves, and thusly equipped offer broad spreads of usable power dispensed in an extraordinarily smooth manner.

Braking is typically a strength for BMWs, and to keep The 2011 BMW Z3 stopping short among luxury roadsters, the company has fitted all roadsters with larger-diameter rear discs, 11 inches on the 2.5i and 11.8 inches on the 3.0i. The 3.0i discs are ventilated as well. Buyers will have several transmission options this year. The 2.5i model’s standard five-speed manual is a carryover, as is the five-speed automatic with Steptronic automanual functionality – this one is optional on all 2011 BMW Z3. Inside, it retains a simple driver-oriented design, though its shapely one-piece dash and minimum of center stack controls definitely give it a more upscale feel. Better interior materials help, too – no longer must buyers pay extra for an “aluminum look” interior; rather, genuine brushed aluminum trim is included in roadsters with a leather interior .

Laterally bolstered sport seats are standard on all 2011 BMW Z3, and we found them supportive enough for long-distance travel. New this year are adjustable headrests and tilt and telescoping adjustment for the steering wheel.

Even though the makers of The 2011 BMW Z3 are known for quality vehicles, this vehicle is really thought out well. With the recent changes in the market, we are most likely to be focusing on cars that are both economical and sporty, The 2011 BMW Z3 offers this, which makes it quite an attractive vehicle. One of the new and exciting aspects of this vehicle is the security features. If you have children or a family, you can respect the additional security features that have been added. This years version of The 2011 BMW Z3 is similar to last years, although many interior and exterior changes have been made. The performance you receive from this vehicle you will come to know and respect.

2011 BMW 760li

The 2011 BMW 760li interior gives maritime character: the deco trim in the cockpit and in the rear compartment is made of high-grade mahogany which incorporates maple strips, bestowing the interior an exclusive yachting ambience, further accentuated by the emblems of a compass embroidered on the anthracite floor carpet. It goes without saying that the Merino leather in Champagne colour is included in the all-leather package, as one would expect of a car boasting such a high degree of exclusivity. Due to its natural quality, this leather is smooth and supple, making it a very special experience to sit on the 16-way adjustable comfort seats.

The exterior paint exclusive to The 2011 BMW 760li is called ‘Night blue metallic’. Illuminated doorsill strips bearing the ‘BMW Individual’ logo, high-gloss shadowline trim on all chrome-plated parts featured by the ‘standard 7 Series model’ as well as body-colour roof trims effectively demonstrate that this is a very special 7 Series model. White indicator lights and the BMW Individual 20” wheels underline the BMW 7 Series’ characteristic design and skillfully round off The 2011 BMW 760li exterior look.

It has been barely a year since BMW’s “2011 BMW 760li ” was introduced, but what an eventful year for BMW. No mere evolutionary product, The 2011 BMW 760li was instead a bold statement about who BMW is, what BMW stands for, and where BMW intends to go. Let’s take a look now at the most significant new technology in this new engine: direct fuel injection. Indeed, this is the first direct-injected gasoline . V-12 engine ever offered in a production automobile, and the first direct-injected gasoline engine to meet contemporary expectations regarding emission control .Direct fuel injection means injection of the fuel directly into the combustion chamber, rather into the intake port as is the norm; it has been chosen and developed by BMW’s power train engineers to boost power output and fuel efficiency to higher levels than could be achieved with conventional fuel injection.

BMW had offered a 12-cylinder model in the previous 7 Series, The 2011 BMW 760li, it was natural and expected that a 12-cylinder version of the new Series would in time make its debut. The V-12 powering the new 760Li is completely new, with 6.0 liters of displacement, dual overhead camshafts (per cylinder bank) and 4 valves per cylinder. Designated N73, it is also related to the N62 V-8 engine that powers the two 745 models, in that the two engines share key technologies and overall engineering architecture; yet it also introduces groundbreaking new technologies of its own. The V-12 configuration has long been recognized as an ultimate power plant concept, suited for top-class vehicles. Its physics are ideal: 12 cylinders arranged in a 60° “vee” of two cylinder banks are perfectly balanced; combined with the relatively even power pulses of so many cylinders, this results in a supremely smooth propulsion unit. This V-12 is also a supremely powerful unit, delivering a monumental 438 horsepower and 444 lb-ft. of torque; for perspective, compare this to the 325 hp and 330 lb-ft. that give The 2011 BMW 760li its 0-60-mph capability of 5.9 seconds and you can easily envision the performance potential of the V-12!

Driving the sedan, coupe, convertible or sport wagon is a joy. They blend luxury and sport with high levels of quality, making living with them joyful as well. Their interiors are well equipped and comfortable. Other automakers are envious of The 2011 BMW Coupe for another reason: It exemplifies consistency in product character and values.

BMW’s 2011 BMW Coupe cars have been the benchmark for entry luxury cars for some time, and we do not see this changing soon. The competition may be gaining, but BMW is hardly sitting still. More technology, more standard equipment, more wheel design choices. 330 models now come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, and BMW’s trick Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) is offered on all rear-drive models.

There’s a new Performance Package for The 2011 BMW Coupe that makes it a virtual four-door . All are offered with a BMW Assist telematics package that no longer requires the optional navigation system. The coupe and convertible prices increase several hundred dollars, but all 2011 BMW Coupe cars come with the same full-maintenance included for the duration of the four- year, 50,000-mile warranty. For entry luxury market shoppers who put a premium on driving satisfaction, The 2011 BMW Coupe remains the place to start. The popularity of The 2011 BMW Coupe has produced a wide, sometimes confusing range of sedans, coupes, convertibles, and wagons. Ten models are available, varying considerably in price, power, and packaging, not to mention two versions from BMW’s high-performance M division. The price spread from the bottom of the 3 Series line to the top exceeds $30,000. All are based on the same chassis and all ride on the same 107.3-inch wheelbase, but the coupes and convertibles do not share many body panels with the sedans and wagons.

The 2011 BMW Coupe variants powered by the 2.5-liter engine come standard with a 5-speed manual transmission; those powered by the 3.0-liter engine are upgraded to a 6-speed manual for 2011. A superb ZF-built 5-speed Steptronic automatic is optional on all models, while the 6-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox developed for and launched in The 2011 BMW Coupe , is offered on all rear-drive 3 Series models. Run-flat tires with tire pressure monitoring are an option on 330 models. Most 2011 BMW Coupe models come with a Premium Package which includes an auto dimming rearview mirror, a moonroof, Myrtle wood trim, front seat memory and drivers lumbar support, leather upholstery, a multi-function trip computer, and the BMW Assist system.

2011 BMW Sedan

Posted on: | In BMW

The 2011 BMW Sedan indicates BMW’s reputation for quality and driving excitement. It works well in foul weather, and easily negotiates muddy trails. Inside, it’s luxurious and comfortable. It also offers the command seating position many people like. Perhaps those are among the reasons 2011 BMW Sedan sales are so strong. The tires that come with the 4.4i Sport Package have been upgraded from H-rated to V-rated, and the electronic speed limiter is now deleted with this package, lifting top speed from 128 to 143 mph (though, again, we don’t recommend traveling at those velocities).

Two big, chromed oval exhaust outlets finish off the rear. 4.6is comes with a comprehensive list of luxury equipment, including xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) low-beam headlamps, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a powered glass moonroof.

BMW 2011 BMW Sedan comes as three models, with increasing horsepower and standard equipment: 3.0i , 4.4i and 4.6is .BMW launched The 2011 BMW Sedan as a single, upscale model, powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine mated to a five-speed Steptronic transmission. The six-cylinder engine produces 225 horsepower, compared to 290 for the 4.4-liter V8. And the 3.0i rolls on 17-inch wheels, rather than the 18-inch rims found under the 4.4i. The 4.6is comes with a five-speed Steptronic transmission similar to the one found on the 4.4i, but programmed and geared differently for a more sporting character. Its 20-inch wheels and W-rated tires (275/40 in front and 315/35 in the rear) are wide enough to impress Fred Flintstone. Unique trim cues distinguish this model, including a rear air diffusor, wind splitters at the sides of front and rear bumpers, a titanium-finish bumper grille, and Shadowline trim with clear turn signal and side marker lenses.

To help keep drivers on the road and in control, all 2011 BMW Sedan come with full-time all-wheel drive and Dynamic Stability Control, which includes traction control, electronic brake proportioning, Dynamic Brake Control, an electronic stability program, and Hill Descent Control.

Additionally, all 2011 BMW Sedan benefit from a four-wheel independent suspension, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and rack-and-pinion steering. There’s no question who builds this vehicle. 2011 BMW Sedan is immediately recognizable as a BMW. Surprisingly, The 2011 BMW Sedan is classed as a light-duty truck by the U.S. government. Most truck-based SUVs, including the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, are built with a separate body bolted onto a frame. 2011 BMW Sedan , however, uses a monocoque body shell like that of a regular sedan. This unit-body construction provides a much stiffer structure, which improves handling, reduces noise and allows better fit and finish. The 2011 2011 BMW Sedan is not the first monocoque SUV; Jeep pioneered the concept two decades ago with its Cherokee, a concept carried forward with the current Grand Cherokee. 2011 BMW Sedan has a great interior. Typically BMW, it’s all business and no nonsense. But it’s also very luxurious.

2011 BMW Sport Wagon

Posted on: | In BMW

The 2011 BMW Sport Wagon features the second-generation common rail diesel engine, producing 218 bhp (previously 184 bhp) and a huge 500 Nm of torque (up from 410 Nm). The 2011 2011 BMW Sport Wagon receives three new engines. Eight-cylinder power comes from a 4.4i V8, with a new high performance . BMW’s latest six-cylinder 3.0 diesel engine is added to the line up, and is complemented by the 3.0i petrol engine carried over from the existing car. The V8 engine features VALVETRONIC inlet control and Bi-Vanos valve timing and is mated to a new six-speed automatic gearbox with gear ratios tailored for The 2011 BMW Sport Wagon .

This combination has already set new standards of performance and refinement in The 2011 BMW Sport Wagon. Developing 320 bhp (an increase of 34 bhp over the outgoing model), The 2011 BMW Sport Wagon accelerates from 0 – 62 mph in only 7.0 seconds (previously 7.5 seconds) before reaching a top speed of 149 mph (up from 143 mph) in its Sport guise.

2011 BMW Sport Wagon’s drive system enables the power and torque increases to be converted into usable traction in all driving situations. Using information from the wheel sensors and data collected from the DSC stability system, including the yaw rate and steering angle, xDrive predicts any loss of traction or tyre slippage and reacts in a few milliseconds. A mid-mounted, electrically controlled multi-disc clutch is used to distribute drive constantly between the front and rear wheels, varying the torque delivery to the wheels which most require it. This could be in a dynamic driving situation or, off-road, on a slippery surface or incline. This contrasts with the four-wheel drive system of the outgoing 2011 BMW Sport Wagon which works on the basis of a fixed front-to-rear drive ratio, and uses only DSC traction control for critical interventions. Clothing the new drive train is a discreetly revised front and rear profile.

The front of the car has been revised up to the A pillar, most noticeably the new headlamp units, with sweeping contours and integrated indicator lamps, that match the design language of other recently introduced BMW models. Also, in common with other models, illuminated headlamp rings form the sidelights on the new car. The bonnet has been redesigned, with sharper edges that run into the trademark double kidney grilles, that have also been reshaped and enlarged, lending a greater presence to the front view. Also revised is the front valance section, with redesigned fog lamps and larger air intakes now divided in the centre by a continuation of the bonnet’s strong lines. At the rear, new transparent glass lamps complement the revisions to the front. The addition of the xDrive four-wheel drive system raises the levels of active safety on The 2011 BMW Sport Wagon to a new high, as many more driving situations can now be taken in its stride. A number of BMW’s new safety features are available on The 2011 BMW Sport Wagon
