Volvo has long been known for its great advances on the technology line, and the new technology that they are working on is going to be some of the best that they have ever developed. This new technology has the potential to save hundreds of people from accidents each and every year in which their cars usually get totaled, and in many occasion they end up with a few cuts and bruises. This technology is going to help the cars to come to a complete stop in the event that wild animals are in front of the car. This may sound as though it is something that the person should already do. However, in most cases in which people hit wild animals, the reason that they hit these animals is because it is dark or to the point that it makes it harder to see, their headlights illuminate these animals for only a few seconds until they hit them, thus they really never had a chance to stop.

The new technology that Volvo is still in the process of tweaking to get it to its best ability. However, thus far we know that it contains two aspects that are working with the car. First, there is an infra red camera that is constantly monitoring the traffic situation, while there is also a sensor that is working to catch anything that may be a danger. If the camera sees something that is a potential threat, there is a buzzing alarm that sounds, which warns the driver to start applying their brakes. If the driver does not respond in a timely manner, the brakes are automatically pressed for them and the car starts to slow down. According to Volvo, right now the technology is being used to help stop these types of accidents, but it is good for people to know that in many cases they may be going too fast to completely stop the accident, though, the technology should help the person to slow down to minimize the impact.
So just what kind of animals are the system going to be scanning for?
Right now, the technology is being focused on those rather large wild animals, such as deer and a moose since these types of animals have been known to cause the most damage to the vehicle and those that are in the vehicle with eh driver. The first stage for this technology is animals, but the public is well-aware of what this type of technology could offer in the future. Consider a car that sees that the person is about to hit someone that they cannot see and the brakes are automatically applied? The same can be said of any type of collision that the person could be involved in, this technology could lower the number of accidents by a huge percentage.
Right now, Volvo has not announced when this technology is going to be placed on the new vehicles, but the consumer market is eager to see it. And this may help to increase the number of people that buy Volvo, thanks to this huge safety net that is going in its place.

The 2011 Volvo V40 is Volvo’s smallest and most affordable wagon. The 2011 2011 V40’s closest competitors include the Audi A4, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and the Volkswagen Passat. Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 1.9-liter, I4, 170-horsepower, turbo engine that achieves 22-mpg in the city and 29-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The 2011 2011 Volvo V40 is a carryover from 2003.

2011 Volvo V40 does offer impressive levels of safety equipment. Its standard features list isn’t all that impressive. Besides the basics, you get features such as automatic climate control, a ski pass-through and a CD player. As for optional equipment, there are individual features like power seats and leather trim.

2011 Volvo V40 has maximum torque of 170 ft. lbs. (230 Nm) is available over a very wide engine speed range, 1,800 rpm to 4,800 rpm. The engine thus provides high torque for good response and acceleration throughout the speed range where almost all normal driving takes place. This also has a positive effect on fuel economy, compared to higher performance turbo engines. The engine features Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) on the exhaust camshaft to help keep emissions down during cold starts. This engine fulfills the Federal LEV standard emission requirements. The engine maximum power output is 160 hp, reached at 5,100 rpm. This engine utilizes a “twin-scroll” light-pressure turbocharger that reduces throttle response time (turbo lag) by about half that of a conventional turbo. The twin-scroll design pairs up the exhaust pulses from cylinders 1 and 4, and cylinders 2 and 3 into two ducts feeding the turbine so that the turbine spins up to speed much quicker.
2011 Volvo V40 models are equipped with a five-speed microprocessor-controlled automatic transmission with lock-up torque converter and “W” winter/wet-weather mode. Gear changes are electronically regulated by a microprocessor, which communicates with the engine management system, resulting in smooth gear shifting. The car is equipped with shift-lock to help prevent the car from moving unintentionally when starting, and key-lock to help minimize the risk of a parked car rolling off. The “W” winter/wet-weather function limits downshifting during acceleration, helping to reduce wheel spin. The “W” mode is recommended for acceleration from a standstill on rain-slicked roads.

2011 Volvo V70 wagons range from comfortable sophistication to off-highway capability to high-performance barnstormer. Upon introduction, the 2.4 is equipped with a standard 2.4-liter, I5, 168-horsepower engine that achieves 22-mpg in the city and 30-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional.

The R is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, I5, 300-horsepower, turbo engine that achieves 18-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 5-speed automatic transmission is optional. The 2011 2011 Volvo V70 is a carryover from 2003.

2011 Volvo V70’s transversely-mounted, 2.4-liter, 5-cylinder, double overhead cam, turbo with intercooler Compression ratio 8.5:1Horsepower (SAE net) 247 @ 5200 rpm Torque (ft./lbs. SAE net) 243 @ 2400-5200 rpm. The manual transmission is five-speed with synchromesh on all speeds and reverse. The gear lever movements are transmitted to the manual transmission by cables, eliminating the transfer of vibrations from driveline to lever. The front seating positions in the car have three-point seat belts with pyrotechnical pretensioners. These pretensioners automatically tighten the seat belts or remove all the slack from the belt in a split second in the event of a collision. The front belts have also been supplemented with load-limiters, which help limit the load imposed on the occupant, thereby slowing the occupant more gently.
The Volvo 70 series offers a choice of engines, suspensions, and packaging. The overall shape of the Volvo V70 looks boxy at first, but closer scrutiny reveals styling innovation for such a large package, and an aggressive stance due to a relatively wide track. The stylish interior of the Volvo 70-series models features rich appointments with an understated air of elegance. The driving experience of the Volvo V70 wagons varies by model. The V70 2.4 is soft and smooth. The V70 T5 is firmer and sportier. The Cross Country is firm, but doesn’t have the sporty crispness of the T5. Engine response varies by model as well. 2011 Volvo 70-series wagons are luxurious and enjoyable to drive. The base model offers a smooth, soft ride, but the engine lacks the sporty response of the other models, which come with turbocharged engines.
