Camaro Over Powers Mustang in Sales

For the first time in 25 years, the Camaro is taking the top position in the sales of pony cars, beating out the Mustang which has held the title of best selling pony car for the last two decades. So far, according to statistics, the Camaro has sold 75,685 cars, while Mustang has sold 68,264. However, there is still December to go. But, most analysts are confident that Camaro will hold its lead over Mustang. In fact, they are estimating that Camaro will have sold 82,500 cars.

Why this sudden increase in sales for Camaro? There are many reasons that the Camaro is having an outstanding year. Most people are chalking it up to the fact that the Camaro has a very high powered V6 engine, something that they have not sold in the past. Because of this, more people are liking the Camaro since the V6 will get better gas mileage than the more powerful V8 engine, however, the V6 still gives outstanding performance.

For the 2011 year, Camaro is expecting another banner year for the model since they will be introducing a convertible model earlier in the year, which will extend the options for those consumers interested in purchasing a Camaro. Ford is also expecting to increase their sales for the 2011 year by offering all new power trains for the Mustang. However, it is still not certain whether Mustang will be able to over power the Camaro in turns of sales or not.

Finishing out the top three pony car is the Dodge Challenger, however they are only expected to sell around 36,000 by the end of the year, meaning that for Camaro and the Mustang, the Challenger is really not showing any real competition.

Overall, the pony cars have really made a step towards a bright future during this year. With new technology being implemented into these cars, most professionals are certain that the in coming years, they will sell just as good if not better.
