Gasoline Prices Affect More than Just Consumers

The rising prices of gasoline is not only having more automakers address the problem with more fuel efficient vehicles, but it is also resulting in a few changes within the auto market. Due to the higher price of fuel, many automakers are finding that it is costing more to ship their cars to their dealers than it was before. Add onto this the cost of having the supplies delivered to the factory, they are looking at some dramatic increases. So what are they doing? Some of the cost that is being added onto the vehicle is being settled internally, however, the majority of it is being passed onto the consumer. Consider that Chevrolet has raised their price per car by around about $120. Ford has raised their price by around $170. 

 

In order to prepare for this, many automakers are considering buying their parts from plants that are closer to reduce the cost of transportation. While others are making sure that they install the latest technology on the cars to make the extra price worth it if the person will find that they are saving money at the pump. However, many people are still unsatisfied with the cost of the cars that are on the lots, thus are doing their best to keep the car that they have. Many automakers have reported that people are simply not buying cars like they used to be. And also point out that they are unable to offer the incentives that most people are wanting due to the rising cost of making these vehicles. 

 

It is a slippery slope for automakers as they are having to gage what buyers are wanting, while also worrying about how to get it to them in an affordable amount of money. Without these aspects in mind, though, the automaker has no hope of succeeding, no matter how trusted the brand may have been in the past.
