German Automakers Loving China

It looks like German Automakers are changing focus and targeting the China market. The largest auto market now is China, not the USA, and German automakers are noticing. It looks like the three most popular brands of German luxury cars – BMW, Audi, and Mercedes – are becoming very popular in the China market and well received. These three brands are dominating the sector of luxury cars in that country. What seems to be bringing this success? These automakers are bringing luxury at a better price for China executives and business people – they are offering luxury models versions of the popular sedan models to the Chinese auto market.

Some of these models are variations of the Audi A4L, and the Audi A6L. BMW is offering a luxurious version of the midsize sedan 5-series, and Mercedes is not falling back by offering a version of the E-Class series.

This might raise the question – How is this possible? The automakers are smart and the reduction in price is thanks to manufacturing their vehicles locally, in China, as opposed to bringing them from other countries. This cuts price a lot, as there are no import tariffs, which can be very expensive for automakers.

China is becoming or it already is – the leader in the car industry, both consuming and producing, something that the USA cannot be too happy about. In addition, with the German automakers looking on the opposite direction, the car industry is certainly going to become a very interesting ring match. Smart step for the Audi German automakers, which produce the Q5, A4L, and A5L in China, and sell them too. The BMW group does the same with their 3-series and their 5-series. Mercedes follows the lead with the C-Class and E- Class series being produced there too.

So what is the future of the auto making industry? Right now, a giant is awakening, and the rest is left to see. The auto industry has always been a strong leg to support a country’s economy, and if everyone starts looking the other way, we are in deep waters here in the USA.
