GM, Ford and Chrysler Working Better with Suppliers

The past two years have been somewhat of a challenge for Detroit's three auto manufacturer's. They have spent the majority of the time not only figuring out where they had went wrong which forced the government to bail them out, but also in improving their relationships with their suppliers. Those that are successful in the auto industry realize that the company must have those good relations with the suppliers in order to meet the needs of the consumer. If the relationships with the suppliers are not as good as they could be, then people are going to find that they are going to be in the situation in which the supplier may not provide the parts on time or they simplify may charge more since they do not like dealing with the company.

There are many benefits that automakers get when they have a good relationship with their supplier. For example, they are going to get better quality since the supplier wants to make sure that the automaker is happy with their purchase. They are also going to find that they are going to get lower prices since the supplier wants to keep the automaker as a customer. Add into the fact that the supplier is going to be more willing to share with the automaker the newest technology that they can use in turn to make their vehicles more technological advanced. It is a winning situation for all those involved with the relationship is one that is built on trust and so forth.

Ford, Chrysler and General Motors have been the last automakers that suppliers have rated as those that are pleasant to work with. However, they are now being rated as some of the best. All the automakers are working to pay suppliers on time, listen to what they have to say and basically work with them to make the most of the situation.
