Hyundai to Make Investment in Alabama Plant

Hyundai has made money from a good 2010 year, and because of this, they have decided to invest this hard earned profit in order to boost production. This is necessary in order to make sure that they are keeping up with the demand that has been increasing thanks to their new and improved lines of vehicles. One of the biggest investments that they are making is in the Alabama plant that they are investing around $173 million. This investment is going to make around 214 jobs for the plant, which is going to give the local economy a huge boost.

The Alabama plant is mainly an engine plant that is responsible for making the engines for the Elantra, Sante Fe and the Kia Sorento crossover. However, the investment is going to help the plant to start producing the Nu engine that is meant to be placed in the all new 2012 Elantra. As well as boosting the number of Theta engines that they currently make at the plant. This is going to improve production by around 300,000 engines on top of what they already produce.

Right now the Alabama plant is being put to the test as they are producing the most that they can produce with their current situation. Hyundai has also said that if the sales and production continue to increase that they would consider building a whole new plant to handle the new demand that is going on, however, they are not going to make this decision final until around July of this year.

This investment is great for Hyundai as it proves that the auto brand is becoming more than a simply fall back that has been thought of as for the past few years. The new models that they are producing are something that are increasing in popularity and the loyalty that they are getting from the public is outstanding. In addition, those that are living in the area are going to find that the investment could be the one way in which they are no longer having to stay on unemployment.
