Recalls for Everyone 2011

Mazda is recalling around 50,000 Mazda 6 cars that are from the years 2009 to 2010. However, the reason for the recall is something of a story of its own. The company is recalling the cars because a spider can weave webs in the vent that is connected with the fuel tank. The web could cause a clog that could possibly lead to the pressure in the fuel tank to build up and ultimately cause the fuel tank to leak or crack which could lead to a fire if under the right circumstances.

Mazda did inform the government that they have had two complaints of this problem and when they investigated they did find a spider web in one of the cars, which they linked to the problem. In order to fix the problem, Mazda has not yet specified what their course of action will be. However, it seems as though they would have to block access to the vent in some way in order to get spiders from being able to spin their web there. Thus far, Mazda has not announced when they plan to have the vehicles brought in to be fixed, however, they are fixing them. Those that have any questions, should contact Mazda directly.

In other recall news, Chrysler is recalling around 248,000 Crossovers and minivans that are having a defect in which the key may slip out of the ignition while it is running which will cause the engine to shut down without any notice. Those vehicles being affected are 2010 model years of the Dodge Journey, Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country. The company has acknowledged that they know of two accidents that have this defect to blame for the accident. The company points out that of all those being recalled that only about three percent were going to be affected, however, the company plans to check all the 2010 models that were produced August 2009 to June of 2010.
