Ford Plans for Lincoln

Ford has said that it has plans to cut some Lincoln cars from its selection, as well as close some dealerships. However, there are many that are still confused with just what plans Ford has for Lincoln. Many are asking if Ford plans to shut down Lincoln all together? While others say making any changes to Lincoln, which is a huge selling brand for the automaker, would be business suicide.

However, the real message that Ford is telling Lincoln dealers is that they have to spend some money and improve their service and facility in a given time frame, or the dealership will be cut loose and will no longer be in business. These improvements, Ford is hoping will improve the business for Lincoln which will in turn improve finances for Ford.

Ford plans to cut some two hundred Lincoln dealerships. Ford has said that they plan to meet with heads of Lincoln dealerships before the end of this year, and then once again at the beginning of next year before they make their decision as to which Lincoln dealerships to close.

Over the next several weeks, Ford plans to give instructions on just what they want to Lincoln dealerships to do, which include how to improve facilities and customer service. If Lincoln dealerships refuse to meet these standards, then Ford will explain just how they will close the dealership down. Those dealerships that do get closed down will receive some sort of compensation, most likely in the form of cash, to remove themselves from the franchise.

There are approximately 1200 Lincoln dealerships in the US, which means that these 1200 dealerships should get ready for some major changes if they plan to stay in the vehicle market. However, though this information clears up a few questions for the general public, it does nothing for the Lincoln dealers who have yet to know just what they need to adjust to stay in business.
