Sentiment on Hybrid Could Affect EV

A new study has shown that the sales of the hybrid cars are not as good as they were in 2008, despite the fact that the price of gas seems to be rising. These results are based on a survey that they did of around 68,000 people who had purchased cars in the first quarter of sales. It was said that only around 21% of people that purchased cars even considered the hybrid choices out there for their gas mileage. And just why aren't people rushing out like they did in 2008 to buy a more fuel efficient car?

Most people realize that during 2008 they may have acted a bit hasty when they acted since gas prices did go down later. So when this happened, most people were left with the small cars that they may not love, while they traded in those bigger vehicles that they needed. This left many people having to make do or to simply end up spending more money to get something else. People are trying to make sure that they do not make this mistake again and end up hurting themselves worse in an economy that is hard enough to work in.

So what does this all really mean? Most people are pointing out that this sentiment that people are having, could be the one way in which electric vehicles are not going to do as well as the automakers and government had hoped they would do. However, the one thing that is going to save these types of cars is the fact that people are buying them due to the technology that is in them, which has many people buzzing about these EV's. Will it be enough to save them? Most people are unsure, but it would seem that they are off to great start, but the hybrid car may end up suffering for years to come due to this state of mind of the consumer market.
