Electric Companies Worry About Electric Cars

With the sale of electric cars starting next month, electric companies are worried. Why? Simply because an electric car can use the same amount of electricity that a small house uses. This has many electric companies wondering if the neighborhoods that will have these electric cars will experience numerous black outs because of the electric cars

Though, the electric companies are glad to see the rise in popularity of electric cars and the benefit that they will give the environment, those electric companies in California, Texas and North Carolina, for example, are rushing to make sure that their equipment will be up for the added watt usage.

Many electric companies are saying that the problems that they may face due to the increase of those driving the electric cars could inhibit the building of charging stations, which could ultimately hinder the growth of the electric cars. Most electric companies are trying their best to avoid this since they do want a slice of the pie. Last year American's spent over $300 billion on gas. This is a huge profit that the electric companies want some of, and the electric car is giving them this possibility.

However, before everyone starts rethinking their decision to purchase an electric car, automakers are sure that there is enough power to maintain these electric cars. They do say that the first year or so will be more difficult for electric companies to keep up, however, they see no problem with them conforming to what needs to be done.

The electric company had similar concerns years ago when the air conditioner came out and began to appear in homes. However, the change was dealt with then with ease, and more than likely the same can be said of the electric car situation. Electric companies are making the necessary upgrades in order to make sure that everything goes off without a hitch, however, with any new product there are going to be a few niches that will need to be workout out.
