Ford Taking Recycling to a New Level
Ford is taking the call of recycling to a whole new level, which is going to please those environmental advocates out there. Their new Ford Focus will contain some recycled materials in the cars interior. What exactly are these materials? Strangely enough, the materials that Ford will use are old denim jeans.
These jeans will be used in the flooring underneath the carpet to get a completely sound proof interior to decrease the amount of exterior noise that the person will hear while driving. According to Ford, about each Focus will have around two pairs of jeans incorporated into their interior. These jeans will be shredded and placed in the flooring of the car, which means that they will not be evident to those who are purchasing the new Ford Focus.
However, those who put off by this idea of using old things into new vehicles, then they should get use to the fact. Since Ford has announced that they are looking for other ways in which they can reuse and recycle materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill, into their cars to be more environmentally friendly. Their goal is to not use as much virgin material as they would normally use in making their vehicles.
This is not the first time that Ford has used recycled materials in the interior of their cars. In the past they have used such things as soy based foam for the seat cushions, as well as recycled yarn for the seat covers.
The Ford Focus is set to be released sometime next year, however no price has been given yet. However, Ford has said that the Focus will be competitively priced against the competition such as Honda. The Honda Civic is priced at around $16,000, which gives everyone a rough figure of just what they may be paying to drive one of the new Ford Focus.
