GM Issues Recall for SRX

GM is issuing a recall for 50,500 Cadillac SRX crossovers due to a problem with the air bags. There really is not a problem with the air bags, there just seems to be a problem with the manual and what the manual says about these air bags. According to the manual for the SRX it says that the passenger roof rail air bag would deploy whether or not someone was sitting there or not. According to GM they have said that the air bag would not deploy if someone was sitting there. Due to this communication difference, it is a violation of the federal safety standards.

In order to fix this, GM is going to have to reconfigure the air bag settings in order for them to match up with what the manual says about the air bag. GM has said that there has been no accidents or injuries associated with this mess up. And they are hoping to fix this problem soon enough in which they do not have to worry about there being any reports of problems.

The SRX that is being affected is from the year 2011 only. Around 47,401 of those being recalled are from the United States, the rest are from Canada and Mexico. There is not word on jut how long the repair will take for those that are going to have to have their SRX brought in for their repair. Nor is there a time frame for when the repairs will begin to start. However, those that do have SRX's that are being affected, should not be worried that they are going to have a problem if they were to get in an accident. They should simply make sure that they are informed of the situation and know what to expect with their air bags. They should be certain that they are doing all that they can do in order to get it fixed as soon as possible though, to be on the safe side.
