Recalls Issued on GM Trucks

Putting a damper on the good run that General Motors is currently experiencing, is a recall that is being placed due to a problem with the child safety seat anchors that were placed in some pickups. Overall, there are a total of 192,000 GM and Isuzu pickup trucks.

The recall is affecting the Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon from the 2004 models to the 2011 models. In addition, there are Isuzu I-280 and I-350 pickups that are 2006 year models. In addition, the Isuzu I-290 models and I-370 models from the year 2007 and 2008. These Isuzu models were manufactured by GM at their factory in Louisiana.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the problem is with those named trucks that have the front bench seats and no rear seating. Those who put a child safety seat in the middle of the seat have no idea how to use the child restraint anchor that is located on the top of the cab. And to make matters worse, the users manual gives no directions on how to use this anchor. Fortunately, there has been no accidents that have been contributed to this problem, but in order to be on the safe side, the recall is being called.

The goal is to make sure that if the child seats are used in the front seat that they are completely safe. The recalled vehicles do not have to have just the front bench seat, but can also have an extended cab. As of yet, the automaker has not set a schedule on when the repairs will be made nor how they will notify those that own the recalled vehicles. However, to make the repair, technicians will open a hole in the back panel to give access to the anchor. They will also provide information on how to properly use the child restraint anchor to alleviate the problem.
