Insurance Companies Sue Toyota

Toyota has been in court for the last several weeks in an effort to clear their name in the many cases that involve car crashes that resulted from sudden acceleration and inability to stop. It seems that now we can add to the long list of those that are suing Toyota for damages, seven car insurers who had clients that had accidents from Toyota's negligence.

Thus far, the court cases have not gone in Toyota's favor. The first reported accident was finalized in court a few weeks ago and the members of the family received $10 million dollars from Toyota since the Judge ruled that Toyota was indeed to blame for the accident that killed the entire family of four.

The car companies that are suing Toyota are claiming that Toyota knew of the problems, thus the insurance company should not have to be paying their clients money for the mistake of the company. In total, the companies are seeking more than $230,000 from around14 different crashes that the company paid their clients for. The companies claim that the defect in these cars and trucks made the vehicle speed up to more than 100 miles per hour.

What is Toyota's take on all of this? They are claiming that the claims that the car insurance companies are having have no merits. However, one has to wonder why these statements have not merit? After all, a judge has already ruled that Toyota did have a defect in their cars that did cause a number of crashes throughout the year.

The big question, will insurance companies win when they take on automaker giant Toyota? It is highly debatable over who will win this round since Toyota is at fault for producing the defected vehicles, however, the car insurance company is supposed to cover any and all kinds of things that could relate to the vehicle when it is involved in an accident.
