Lincoln Dealers Still Confused Over Changes to Dealerships

Ford Motor Company set forth many new rules and criteria that Lincoln dealers must start following if they wish to remain in business. However, at the meeting that is coming up between the Ford board and the Lincoln dealers, it could be a time in which tempers and confusion start. Dealers for the Lincoln brand are wanting answers and more information on just what they should be doing to ensure that they are a dealership that is going to stay open no matter what.

The Lincoln dealer council chairman states that the Ford Motor Company has been great thus far giving them information via web casts that they have posted and mailing them information relating to the deal that they are about to venture on. However, many dealers are not agreeing to the fact that they have all the information that they are going to need, they want precise details and they want them now.

In February, Ford did outline the details and the standard that must be met. These included, offering consumer loaner vehicles for when their Lincoln is in the shop, and the fact that the used lot must be comprised of at least 30% of pre-owned Lincolns. Those that do not abide by these new regulations are going to find themselves forfeiting their dealer discount which would affect many of these dealers.

Some of the issues that Lincoln dealers are wanting to clarify is things such as if the customer asks for a Ford loaner vehicle while their Lincoln is being worked on, would the dealership be fined for letting the consumer get what they want? While others wonder if the used stock is going to be monitored constantly to make sure that the 30% certified limit is kept? Questions along these lines are those that people are asking because they are wanting to ensure that they understand fully and completely what they are doing.
