Tire Recall Affected Ford

It seems just like yesterday when Firestone and Ford were going through the motions of having to recall tires that were being placed on Ford vehicles. The consumer market was angry and many believed that Firestone and Ford would never gain back the reputation that they were losing. However, years later, and the two are still some of the strongest US companies that are out there. Now it seems that history is repeating itself, at least from Ford's point of view.

Continental Tire is recalling around 391,000 tires that were mainly put on the Ford F250 and F350. These tires were produced in Mexico during 2007 and 2008. They were placed on vehicles from the 2008 and 2009 year. They have estimated that around 65,000 trucks in the United States and Canada have these tires.

The reason for the recall is that Continental has found that these tires may be giving uneven rides, which is wearing the tire down in some spots, but not others. It could cause a blow out to occur, should the person ride on these tires for too long. In addition, their main concern was that given the trucks that these tires were placed on, it could be that with a heavy load, the tires would not be able to bear the pressure and simply blow up. And for anyone who has ever blown a tire, they understand just how dangerous this could be, not to mention if the truck is pulling a heavy load of something.

Ford is giving owner information to Continental so that they can make arrangements to rectify the problem. They plan to replace those tires for consumers free of charge.

Since Continental is coming forth and claiming responsibility, they will more than likely not see the consumer base lessening due to this reason. And given that these tires were a few years old, more people are likely to forget about their one indiscretion.
