MyLink From GM Direct Competition with Sync

The Sync application in new Ford vehicles has been given a lot of attention by those that are interested in buying Ford's. The reason is that it does much more than other systems in vehicles since the driver can utilize Sync in order to use the cell phone better or even to find media on certain gadgets. Because of this, almost every automaker out there is looking for some way in which they can also find a niche for this market.

GM is planning to introduce a new system that will rival the Ford's Sync. In this system, GM plans to allow emails to be received, texts messages to be sent and received, as well as providing traffic updates and other vital information that car drivers would like to have while going down the road. The system is going to be the Chevrolet MyLink. MyLink will allow people to connect their smart phones to the system in order to have everything that they may need at a touch of a button.

As of right now, the system is going to only be offered in the Chevrolet Equinox and Chevrolet Volt. However, as time passes, the company plans to utilize the system in more Chevrolet's, and are planning to introduce the system into the Buick, Cadillac and GMC lines as well. However, the company has released no schedule for when this could occur.

One of the neatest aspects about the MyLink is that people who have it can always add new applications from the Internet in order to get the system to do exactly what they have in mind. In addition, OnStar will still be offered by GM in cars, so consumers who love OnStar will not have to give it up.

Most people are excited to get the newest technology from GM, however those that are in high government positions are worried about the distraction that MyLink will cause consumers, and wonder if the system will lead to more wrecks on the highway.
