Review of 2012 Honda Civic Si

For years people have been saying that the Honda Civic is just another face in the list of cars that are out there. That the car really does not have any distinguishable features about it that makes people want to have it. However, Honda is hoping to change this with the new 2012 Honda Civic Si that is being released. They are hoping to get back the magic that they once had that made people want to have the Honda Civic. However, did the Honda Civic Si get back the magic that has long been lost for some consumers?

There are many specifications about the Honda Civic Si that are going to be slightly different from past models, however, in order to full understand what all the Civic Si is offering,

the specifications must be known:

  • A combined 31 miles per gallon (which is by no means amazing when compared to other models that are on the market that are getting tons of more gas mileage)
  • 6 Speed Manual Transmission that is going to definitely get some people excited as more and more automakers are not offering manual transmissions even as an option
  • 13.2 gallon fuel tank
  • can hold up to five passengers, though the back passengers may be a bit cramped when riding long distances
  • 4 wheel anti lock brake system with disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear for optimal stopping power
  • 2.0 liter I-VTEC four engine
  • 201 horsepower
  • can only use premium fuel in car
  • a shortened wheelbase is one of the dominant features of the car
  • harder suspension for a smoother ride

With all these changes and specifications, the main question that people are asking is whether this new Honda Civic is going to be the revolutionary product that people are wanting in a car? The professionals that have been given the opportunity to test drive this are a bit hesitant on saying yes or no when they are deciding on this. They state that there is great improvement on the braking power which was definitely needed. However, there is still not the power that people are expecting with a car that is considered this sporty. The ride is a bit smoother and the person is going to find that this is much more accommodating for the times in which they are riding longer.

However, the person is going to find that the ride is almost too tight to really be comfortable and this is perhaps the biggest drawback that people are talking about. Due to the small size that is in the vehicle most people find that this is not going to work for those that are trying to travel with their entire family. For the single person that does not have children or a significant other, it is going to be a perfect fit. For others, they may be a bit disappointed. However, it is a small compact car that is expected to get great gas mileage and so forth. Is this car winning in the category? It is a bit better than the past models, but a little more time could have went into making it better.

You have to be the age of majority in your tastes as you will be singing a legally binding contract. If that’s not you, then you’ll need to bring your parents with you.First, you select the car color, features, and all. Test drive it. If you want to buy this car, then start negotiating on price. You can often get the price to come down to near cost figure, sometimes below. There are strategies for this, but that’s another story.Once the price is settled, you either pay it outright, (CASH), or apply for a loan, if you don’t have one already. The dealer will give you a form. You fill it out. They’ll come back in few minutes with offers. Check the contract and the rates. If you agree, sign it.If you don’t have the insurance already, make a call to your insurance company and have them issue you one before you drive out. They’ll take care of most of the paper work. You’ll just have to make sure to read all the fine prints and make sure it is exactly as what you agreed. Then just make the payments as you enjoy your new car.Few pointers:Make sure, they do not add excessive dealer prep fees. They can often be eliminated or reduced.Do not agree to buy silly items like pin stripes. They cost nearly nothing for them to put on but will charge you few hundred dollars. Make them take them off or give it to you for free. They will do this. For your loan, make sure there is no early payment penalty. Just ask, and have them point it out to you where it says so in the contract.DO NOT LET THEM PRESSURE YOU to buy it today. There is no such thing as today only deal. If the deal is real, it’ll be there tomorrow or a week later. My standard procedure is, never buy it on the same day. Go home and give myself 24 hours. If the salesman gives too much grief, just walk out.
