Ford Announces Lincoln Will Get Face Lift

Amid the news that Ford planned to shut down around 150 Lincoln dealerships unless the dealers played along with Ford and make expensive upgrades to the facilities, many dealerships were left wondering if making the upgrades would really pay off in the end. After all, as many people viewed it, was Lincoln a good selling brand for Ford? Lincoln has always been the luxury line of Ford, however, many people viewed the line as expendable, you could buy the same thing at Ford with very little difference. That is all changing according to Ford, who announced at the Detroit Auto Show that the Lincoln line was getting a huge face lift and would be completely different from Ford vehicles.

For example, they plan to offer any more V6 engines available in the luxury line, while also developing power trains that are unique to Lincoln only. Not to mention the technology that the company plans on improving in Lincoln to once again make Lincoln live up to its name of being the luxury brand. All wheel drive will also be in the future of Lincoln, however, there are no plans for a rear wheel drive.

2011-Lincoln Facelift Since Ford discontinued Mercury, as well as sold their share in Volvo, Land Rover and Jaguar the company now has the money that they needed to invest into Lincoln and hopefully once again make it a car that people want to own. The Lincoln brand will stay centered in the United States, Ford pointed out. Though Ford has gone global, the company says that for now Lincoln will be the premier brand to the United States.

So are the chances of Lincoln becoming the next household name once again really going to happen? Everyone agrees that it is due time for Lincoln to be getting a makeover, after spending so many years looking exactly like the offerings of Ford, it will be nice to see something different.
