GM Sonic to Rival Ford Fiesta

General Motors is trying their best to bring some competition to the market for the Ford Fiesta. The Fiesta which was a huge success in the European market, has also been a huge hit for the US market. In fact, the Fiesta is the second best selling subcompact car in the United States, which means that GM has a huge role to fill if they are truly wanting to be competitive with Ford.

Chevrolet has introduced the Sonic, which is set to start production later this year. They are stating that this is the funniest car to drive on the market that gets around 40 miles per gallon. They are hoping that the sleek looks of the Sonic and the gas mileage is going to lure many people from other automotive segments to this car so that they can take the reigning position as the best selling subcompact vehicle.

Those that have seen the Sonic up close and personal are stating that the car could attract younger buyers than anything with the gas mileage and the handling that the car boasts. The Sonic is hoping to take over the segment of drivers that the Aveo is leaving behind since it is being discontinued. The Sonic has a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine that is paired with a six speed transmission. So what are the professional thinking about the Sonic?

For one thing, they are saying that it is not as impressive as the Fiesta, which means that Chevrolet probably isn't going to get the results that they want in terms of that. However, professionals are quick to point out that the car is still a great performer in terms of what it has to offer and it is sure to attract some attention from buyers. Especially, since GM is going to use social media in order to attract the right audience to consider the car for purchase.
