First Nissan Leaf Sold in US

The first Nissan Leaf that was purchased in the United States will be the first that will be delivered. A 31 year old entrepreneur who lives in the San Francisco Bay area purchased a black Nissan Leaf and can expect to have this car some time soon.

Many professionals were worried that the consumer market would not embrace the idea of these smaller electric cars, however, that is proving to be wrong. In fact, professionals are estimating that by 2015, 90,000 of the cars sold in the United States will be those electric concept cars. Nissan has made a first with their Leaf, making it affordable for the average consumer.

The government is offering a $7,500 tax credit for those that purchase one of these new cars. The Nissan Leaf is starting at around $32,780. Which means that the tax credit will come in handy for those that want to purchase one of the Nissan Leafs.

Contrary to popular belief, this is not the first time that electric motored cars have been used. Years ago, the cars were dominant, however, because of their short range, eventually the gas powered engine took over. However, due to the high prices of gasoline, automakers and engineers finally found a way to make those electric engines last much longer and go much further, which is now the reason that they are appealing to more and more people.

So is everyone going to be running out to purchase an electric car? Probably not, however, in the coming years, the idea of more and more people owning an electric car is reasonable. The reason is that with more and more automakers coming out with these electric cars, the price of these should drop considerably which will make them more affordable for the common person. Until that time, sure, they are going to be popular, however, only for those that are making more than the average American makes per year.
